Hey from Iowa! Looking for a cargo trailer that doesnt exist

That's a idea Iv considered (7' regular trailer and replace axle with narrow track axle and build wheel wells, but the frame?) but if a shop did the work, it would cost way to much.  Me doing it?  To much work.. I cant find the 12 valve truck Ive been searching for anyway, so I don't mind...

Hey from Iowa! Looking for a cargo trailer that doesnt exist

Well, Im still looking.. I find them once in a while but always over 1 hour away..    Here's one where the owner wont respond.. :(  https://omaha.craigslist.org/tro/d/enclosed-motorcycle-trailer/6555086108.html And no one makes a 7' wide deckover I could put this on.. :(

Hey from Iowa! Looking for a cargo trailer that doesnt exist

I did some searching regarding camper frames and axles and I believe most single axle campers had 3500# 5 lug axles.  I would have to replaced the axle with a >5000# axle considering I want a ton of water literally, and my motorcycle etc etc.. But would then need to reinforce the frame..?  I'm...

Hey from Iowa! Looking for a cargo trailer that doesnt exist

Thanks.  I considered a "deck over" atv/snowmobile trailer.  But like you mentioned, the height gets to tall with a box you can stand in on top. Wheels are to small ratings to low..  I can live with wheel wells, and will need them because I would like to run 8 lug 16" wheels to match my TV. ...

Hey from Iowa! Looking for a cargo trailer that doesnt exist

Hello everyone, new around here..  I posted a few comments about enclosed trailer construction, but I figure I better introduce myself and what I'm looking to do. I'm Mike. Divorced with adult kids blue collar type. And I recently sold my big 24' toyhauler and CTD TV because the trailer was to...

    Flat top vs. round top

I removed all the roof sealant on that 24' featherlite and redid it with Geocel proflex.  Then the windows started leaking. :-/ 3m extreme sealing tape looks nice but not sure on the removal compared to mineral spirits for the proflex. Johnny, consider yourself lucky with your trailer. ...

    Cargo trailer build quality spectrum.

Right on tx2sturgis..  Those are some of my requirements, but I hope I didn't hijack this thread..  Hopefully this thread still remains a think tank about build quality, or the lack there of. So the lack there of requires you to step up and ask/demand for specific's. I'd probably would want to...

    Cargo trailer build quality spectrum.

Yes I question the stability of my plan also tx2sturgis, and understand it requires major frame modifications and a New axle..  But all I'm doing is converting a 7' wide trailer with outboard wheels and fenders, to one with no fenders, and wheel wells inboard similar to 8' wide trailers. They...

    Cargo trailer build quality spectrum.

Wow, that would take allot of work and talent skinning a enclosed trailer.  Looking forward to the build thread. My plan is to buy the used 7x12 H&H in my picture.  Then modify it with a narrower axle and new wheel wells to match my truck track.  Maybe lengthen the tongue as well.

    Cargo trailer build quality spectrum.

Trailer manufactures must be hiring "day labor's" from the unemployment office or out front of lowes. Keep in mind, just because its a featherlite or other reputable brand doesn't mean anything anymore.  It depends on the group of jack asses who put it together and how hung over they are that...

    Flat top vs. round top

I can personal say this is not true..  I had a 24' featherlite surv toyhauler with a one piece aluminum roof..  It was riveted to the extruded 1/4 round aluminum top edge.  The seam location was mostly low spots collecting water right where it shouldn't collect!   I chased leaks in that...

    Cargo trailer build quality spectrum.

Hello new around here and found this discussion on a google search.. I'm disgusted in the fit and finish of the new trailers Ive looked at. Second..  When did the industry shift away from rounded or curved one piece roofs? It doesn't help to have a one piece roof if the seams are on top and...
