    Price of RV is Crazy!!!

I was just reminiscing about the days I could buy a TT/5th, used certified from a dealer, with just my tax return.

    Is there a HELP section?

I have been an avid follower of Bob for about 4 years. My young daughter and I have been vandwelling for longer, and this would have been our 4th summer in Flagstaff, as sunbirds. We need help. My Honda Odyssey camper is up for sale here on Marketplace, and Flagstaff Craigslist. We need to sell...

All good practical points, and I appreciate the words of encouragement.

    DANGER in COTTONWOOD, AZ

Thank you all. I was able to recover my gear this morning, with the help of a friend. My gear was undisturbed, they were probably disappointed there was nothing of value. I filed a report with Cononino F.S. law enforcement, I thought my location was more their niche than local p.d.. Thankfully...

    DANGER in COTTONWOOD, AZ

:( Last night we arrived at Bill Gray Rd., FR 761, in Coconino Forest. We were 3 miles in, and about 6 miles to Cottonwood, AZ. At about 10pm, a large group (I stopped counting at 30) of various  trucks blazed by. Their headnights disappeared into the night, so I wasn't particularly comcerned...

    I was robbed.

She. And my young daughter as well. They took her bright pink child's chair that any adult would get stuck in.

    Thank you, you are correct.

    I was robbed.

We are camped on a well-known forest road in Flagstaff. This is my 2nd summer in Flag, and never was safety on my radar. Left camp at noon, came back at 4pm to find everything gone. I was camped on a main FR, out in the open, not hidden away. I travel in a van, with minimal outdoor gear. One of...

    I've got a rough plan . . .

Welcome! I'm a fellow/former yankee, born and raised. Lived about 20min N. of the cloverleaf for 35yrs. We moved to the desert SW, and became snowbirds. The weather back home became too prohibitive. Minivans are easy conversions, you can find references for just about any make/model. Toss in a...

    Washing clothes

I'm sure it's been mentioned, but adding a little white vinegar to your rinse water is a natural way of softening them. And, no, there is no vinegar odor once dried.

State Police stopped me for driving too SLOW!

Middle desert, AZ. 8:30am on a Tuesday. Heading to the Walmart. A State Police suv who was parked in the median got behind me after I passed by. He practically tapped my bumper he got so close. I pulled over and my young daughter and I greeted him with a hearty Good Morning. I had Christian...

Ground clearance on Honda Odyssey an issue for boondocking?

My tires have 80% tread, had all 4 replaced in Nov. Came out one morning to a flat down to the rim. Couldn't be repaired so says Walmart, so had it replaced. (3 inch gash in tread) The 0.5 is a slow leak, which has been patched and I'm watching. Both were victims of Sedona. I think my quest for...

Ground clearance on Honda Odyssey an issue for boondocking?

I have boondocked for 2 yrs in a '01 Odyssey and tent. The factory clearance is out the window for me...I removed the front seat (70lbs), and both 2nd row captain's chairs (65ish lbs each), but kept the 3rd row stow n go bench. So, lighter to start, plus minimal gear, and one 40lb passenger :)...

    gas prices

RVPOPEYE- I spent last winter outside Portland. When I left, I had 4' of snow on my deck, with 7' drifts. Had 2 storms that bombed out back to back, and hit Portland/Scarborough/Monhegan head on. The second storm washed away the jetty and half the dunes near my beach. Never again, I'm in AZ now...

WOMEN ONLY!!! When you need a tow out in the wilderness

I can share what I did yesterday, when I broke down! I don't have AAA since they will not rescue me on a dirt/gravel road. For me, I make sure I have good cell signal. I don't compromise on that, as a single woman on the road with a young child. Second, I have a "tow" fund always ready. I don't...

Questions about vandwelling with a 2 y/o baby...

Welcome to the family! I travel with my 6yr old :) We have been nomadic for almost 4yrs. It is our preference to camp in nature, where she gets her energy out and can be rowdy. The rare urban boondocking experience has never caught any "gov't eyes". Great advice above, and you might consider...
