Your ideal kit list for living in a small space on the move

My most used item is my Leatherman Surge multitool. I have a Swiss army knife, the tinker model with the pliers, & used to have the Leatherman Wave, but prefer the Surge due to the larger knife blades & the ability to use jigsaw blades.

On Amazon.ca they're selling them for $1384 CDN & even more on Ebay.

    12/24V Air Conditioners, Any success?

Well, I got that Eenour QN650 & it looks like it will meet my needs. Turned it on & tested it at my friend Joni's place & she was so impressed that she had me get 1 for her too! Luckily, there was another 1 being sold at a ridiculously low price (as 'not working' cuz the owner didn't bother to...

    Lead Acid Battery Recommendation

You might want to look into lead/carbon batteries. Yup, they weigh more than lithium, but seem to have equivalent deep discharge/charge cycles & are just as happy with partial states of charge. They also charge at MUCH lower temperatures with no BMS to make life interesting. Supposedly, they're...

Keeping warm in sub-freezing weather, using only a tiny amount of fuel for heat.

I'm leaning towards an F250/350 with an older larger camper on it, but a lot depends on what I see for sale. Hell, I might even go for another steppie or mini school bus. ..Willy.

cheap small device (but with keyboard) specifically for surfing Web - recommendations?

I'm a bit late to the party, & it's kinda moot since you've already bought something, but I'll chip in anyway cuz somebody else could be in your original situation. For the last decade I've been using used Dell business class latitude tablets bought off Ebay. They're generally Milspec rated &...

Keeping warm in sub-freezing weather, using only a tiny amount of fuel for heat.

About 23 yrs ago I was visiting up in Springerville Az in the winter, with the wind howling & it being well below freezing, & was staying in my very well insulated camperette. All I had to keep my dog Roxy & myself warm was a Dietz kerosene lantern burning low odour paint thinner. It provided...

Keeping warm in sub-freezing weather, using only a tiny amount of fuel for heat.

I use an 'old skool' externally vented convective propane furnace in my current rig, which is an '85 Winnebago Chieftain. It's not nearly as well insulated as my previous steppy & struggles to heat the rear bedroom section at -25C, whereas it easily heated the whole steppy, minus the driving...

    12/24V Air Conditioners, Any success?

I just bought a used EENOUR QN650 off Ebay. It should be more than sufficient, seeing as the space I plan to cool will be relatively cool & well insulated. It's more for 5hr sake of my dogs than for me. ..Willy.

    Wood Stoves

Here's a youtube review of the Pomoly Dweller: I'd edit my previous comment & insert it, but don't how (if possible) to do so.

    Wood Stoves

An alternative to burning wood is to use charcoal briquets or even coal. Also, having a stove that's airtight, or can be made so, really helps. In regards to air supply, drawing the interior air out, as long as there's exterior air to replace it, is beneficial when it's cold as it pulls out...

Does anyone still make & sell 'old style' convective RV furnaces?

He found it more expensive. Also, auto propane up here in Canada is very cheap. The fact that he DID have to run his generator during that nasty cold snap (crap for solar) didn't help. ..Willy.

Does anyone still make & sell 'old style' convective RV furnaces?

We had one of those when I was gold mining in Alaska a couple of decades ago. We cooked on & heated the cabin with it. ..Willy.

Does anyone still make & sell 'old style' convective RV furnaces?

The addition of a small computer fan, drawing something like 100 mA, can make a big difference. I have a bimetallic temperature switch (gleaned from a trashed newer style furnace) located near the burn chamber in my unit. When the furnace turns on & the burn can gets hot enough, the switch...

Does anyone still make & sell 'old style' convective RV furnaces?

My friend Brian want's to add a propane furnace to his campervan that's like the one in my rig, but doesn't want to buy used. As far as I'm concerned, the newer types just plain suck when it comes to winter heating with very limited power. He doesn't want catalytic, with the attendant moisture...

    Tankless Water Heaters

Decades ago, while treeplanting, we had a Bosch/Paloma tankless (on propane) supplying hot water for 10 showers & the kitchen in bush camp. ..Willy.

    12 volt compressor

I have that exact same model & it's a BEAST. Airs up an RV tire quickly, 85 psi in my case, & only gets warm. Best to run the engine while doing so tho. ..Willy.

Has anyone tried using lead/carbon batteries?

I'm thinking of replacing my old 'n pooched telecom AGM's with some lead /carbon AGM's. My buddy Nic just bought 2 and is impressed. I have a 150 Lithium iron phosphate battery and am not that impressed with it, especially given the extremely hot summers & really cold winters we've been having...
