    Air Purifier Recommendations Please

Unfortunately the smoke and fire season will soon arrive. Can anyone recommend an air purifier suitable for van living? Smoke smell removal is a must have. Don't see the point without that. Small in size. Runs off 12V would be a super bonus.

    Cornbread without an oven

Anyone care to share a recipe? I've never made cornbread without an oven. Would love to have a good recipe to try. A hack of a store bought mix would be greatly appreciated.

    Code Enforcement Officer...72 Hour Rule...

Full disclosure I  am not an Attorney, this is not legal advice. These statements are simply my political opinion. You have HANDICAP PLATES? That could be a game changer. Parking restrictions can be different for handicapped tagged vehicles I would research those for that town as well. Could be...

The defenitive you never need Reflectix manifesto.

One thing about reflectix nobody ever talks about is it makes a good privacy screen. Anyone can buy a roll cut it to size and push up against the window for privacy

Mounted solar panel or portable, pro's and con's

A lot of good points regarding pros and cons of portable panels. One I haven't seen is that portable panels take a lot more abuse than mounted units.  Portable panels aren't likely to last as long and will need to be replaced much sooner than mounted panels. Just another thing to consider when...

    Traveling Movie extra

I never appear on screen because all the scenes I was in ended up on the cutting room floor and not used. They shoot many hours of material and only use something like 90 minutes of it. You don't do anything off screen but wait until they need you for something.

    Traveling Movie extra

In my experience they won't pay traveling expenses.  Being a nomad has advantages in that we are traveling anyway. A nomad knows how to do it cheaper than anyone else not local. If they need you for several days you don't have to drive home each day. Nomads boondock or stealth close to...

    Traveling Movie extra

What is the work like? Mostly waiting around. A lot has to happen before they shoot a scene. They generally have the extras wait in a staging area. A production assistant (PA) will go there to get the extras needed for the scene. The PA will take you were you need to be and tell you what if...

    Traveling Movie extra

What was the pay like? Each porduction had different pay rates. The average was $80 for the day plus they provided lunch. I was paid for 8 hours even if they only needed me for 6. If they kept me longer I was paid time and half for each additional hour.  If by luck you become a "featured"...

    Traveling Movie extra

After setting up a profile with the casting agency it's time to look for work. Onlocation casting the only company I have experience with posts available work on their Facebook page. Anyone can go see what if anything they currently are trying to cast The Facebook post will give you most the...

    Traveling Movie extra

First step was to go to my casting agencies website in my case that was onlocation casting to setup your listing. You will enter in your contact information. They will ask for a bunch of information about your height, weight, hair color, if you have any special skills like horseback riding or...

    Traveling Movie extra

The way i found work as an extra was through a CASTING AGENCY. They are contracted by productions to find and supply extras. The casting agency I worked with was onlocation casting. Don't know if they are "the best" I just knew that they had a need for extras in my location. There are probably...

    Traveling Movie extra

While not an expert I have worked as an extra in a handful of productions. I will share with you how "I" did it and my experiences. I will be posting several replies in a row because of my slow typing on my phone the posting editor times out. Sorry if that is an annoyance to anyone.

    "universal" third party van windows

My older pleasure way class B has the push out windows hinged on top.  Advantage is they can stay open in the rain.  The bug screen has a vinyl access "door"  two zippers (one on left side, one on right) unzip to open or close window. Also has a back door window which will suck in exhaust...

What to do with tuna can juice?

Creatively reuse whatever eaten food containers you have.  Empty peanut butter jars are great for liquid waste. Salsa, pasta sauce jars etc. Put smelly trash in a potato chip bag, CAREFULLY use a lighter to melt it shut. Try that at your own risk. Use soup cans for waste. I stuff used paper...

    Off grid laundry

Don't have to use laundromat dryers To save money just wash there, get some kind of laundry line to air dry outside for free. Rough estimate will save $100 or more a year In the dry desert it doesn't take long to get dry.
