    Ziplock bag cooking

When we have been camping we use Ziplock bags to make omelets in the morning. Always use the heavier freezer type bags with the double zip. Put 2 or 3 eggs in the bag. Add whatever goodies you want/have, squish it around and put it in a pan of boiling water. It takes about 10 minutes and you...

Sections of Tonto National Forest/eagle nesting

The U.S. Forest Service said Monday that the annual closures protect bald eagles during their critical reproductive period. The affected areas were closed over the past weekend and will not reopen until June 30. They include: Goldfield on the Mesa Ranger District, Lower Verde and Cliff on Cave...

Does this make sense? and a question.

With 100W portable set up, 50 ft of wire, batteries (inverter etc) set up in the SUV - will that work? I know a hole goes through the side someplace for the wire. But what do I do with the wire when I a moving? I don't think I want to leave a window open for rain to get in. Thanks in advance.

Too many good ideas. Thanks, I think.

As I read and read, I find so many good ideas!!!!! Most won't fit in my Element. ::(  I had better learn to pack really, really well.  So far I have come up with about 4 ways to pack, stack, store stuff. I may end up sleeping in the drivers seat if I can't get it all in. LOL.  Less is better...

    Cost to have solar installed???

Try as I might I am just not going to be able to do a solar install by myself. I want the solar on the roof, which is curved, and will need a platform for the panels. The Honda Element has roof racks. 200 wts should fit on the platform. I see that very good 200wt systems, less the batteries and...

    Floor insulation for Element?

Hi, I am planning out my Element for full time. The floor has a "truck liner" type of flooring with no insulation. I don't think I can put anything heavy down and there isn't a great deal of height to work with. Thinking carpet padding and indoor/outdoor carpet. I have gotten great advise and...

Almost There caused a change of layout

With much thanks to Almost There, I have changed my layout for the Element. She said there may be times I can't set up and need to sleep in the car. "ding, ding, ding". The passenger seat folds just about flat and I can put a small box where your legs / feet would go. At 5" tall, I can stretch...

    More battery confusion

Hi all. I am thinking about this battery. Do I need two for a 200wt solar panel system? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DDZECBW/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=28GIF6FBEEBP7&coliid=IDTEJ9IF78K78 kept in this box under the bed...

Batteries - kept in lg plastic box?

Have to ask -- can the closed house batteries be kept in a large plastic tub? What I want to do is have one tub at each end as a base for the plywood for the bed base. The batteries will be closed, will want two golf cart batteries. Do I need to drill holes for venting in the tub? Thanks.

Propane use - how long will it last?

Hi, I am in my planning stage and working on a budget. As I have a 20 lb propane tank? 5 gal. I will probably cook two small meals a day, plus heat water for coffee and washing. How long should one tank last? If I have to run my Big Buddy heater on low for a few hours a day I know it will use a...

Dog questions - to have or not have a dog

Hi all, I haven't started my van living journey just yet and have a few questions about having a dog. I also do not have a dog but am thinking about adopting as I start my wanderings. When I go into town to shop, what do I do with the dog? It may be too hot / cold to leave it in the van. How do...
