    Roadpro cooker first meal

If and when the RoadPro breaks, look at the Max Burton Portable Stove to Go. When my RoadPro final bit the dust after a couple years good service, I upgraded to the Max Burton. Been real happy with it.

Installed marine-style 40a 12volt plug & socket for cooking device

The most intensely I run it is maybe 3 hours or so on the Heat setting, which just keeps heating up until max, 350 degrees. I doubt I get it to 350, though, because when I run it that much, I'm usually boiling a liquid, such as stew or cooking rice. According to the specs, it can run 12-15A. I...

Installed marine-style 40a 12volt plug & socket for cooking device

A long time ago, SternWake gave me some good advice on this forum about upgrading my 12v device plugs. I finally followed up with some Marinco 40A plugs and wrote a post about it: http://www.vanholio.com/2017/05/install-marine-plugs-on-high-amp-12v.html. Also, here's a review on the gadget I...

    12v socket

Here's the writeup finally! It's not too deep, but I think I got some good links in there to get folks started. http://www.vanholio.com/2017/05/install-marine-plugs-on-high-amp-12v.html

I got a THICK memory foam twin mattress in a tiny van. I guess I do have a rolling bed. AND I LIKE IT THAT WAY!

Meet The Brits Turning To Unconventional Housing To Save On Rent

Meet The Brits Turning To Unconventional Housing To Save On Rent People are living in “tiny houses”, timber woodland structures, and canal boats – and one YouTuber has set up home in a converted ambulance. The UK housing crisis is leaving millions of people unable to save for price-rocketing...

    History of the RV

Dangit! I wanna watch this right now, but I'm bandwidth too constricted. I did add it to my Watch Later list! :-)

Short term stealth and family concerns

The only thing I can think of is connecting to urban vehicle livers like you, particular in DC, and get some testimonials. Example, "I got to know Jake, who's been doing it for five years here in DC. Never had a problem." You might try to find some folks like these on the vandwellers subreddit...

Mileage effect solar panel minivan roof?

I've got panels mounted on the Z brackets atop a rack on my minivan. I also have a wind faring. At 55mph, I do close to the van's spec mileage. At 75, I lose 30% efficiency. But then, I'm not sure how I'd do at 75 without anything on top.

    Asset Forfeiture

There have been some cases of innocent people getting their assets taken and then having a real hard (or impossible) time getting them back. From what I've read, some of the forfeiture laws (maybe all) don't require the LEOs prove you've done anything, and some are abusing that discretion...

    Social Security Disability Question

This is not a direct answer to your question, but instead some advice. A friend of mine is going for disability now. SS keeps asking her for more info, often with short turnaround times. Her lawyer said they play games like that to make you miss a deadline or provide wrong info so they can deny...

    My Daddy Always Said

These aren't sassy, but they really are two things Pops said that've stuck: 1. Most people are basically decent. 2. If you think you can't, you're probably right.

    Part-timer: is solar really best?

What to do with my dog while I'm driving

My Chihuahuas love their Snoozer pet car seat. The bed/chair is held to the seat with a seatbelt, and a short lead with swivel attaches their harness to the seatbelt as well. They can turn around, sit up and look out the window, sleep, and are always within reach to get petted. But they won't...

    How to keep insulin cold

Will it hurt the insulin to get down to 32? If that's OK, a tiny Yeti cooler with ice should do the trick. Normally, I think of them as overpriced. They certainly are for beer and balogna. But for you, it's worth it.

    Nomads East of the Mississippi

Spent some months out east last year. It's not as good for boondocking as the west, but it's not impossible at all. And heck, in nearly any national forest, you can do dispersed camping. Ocala National Forest in Florida is great in winter. The forests in the mountains are good in summer.

    Rainwater Harvesting

Gravel, sand, and rock filter the surface water as it makes it's way down underground. Plus underground there's no sunlight to start a chain of life. Surface water is full of living things, some of which don't agree with you.
