Official Summer RTR Dates: June 16-26, 2016

Thanks for all the updates.  I have water but have a much larger container that I brought but didn't fill to improve gas mileage.  Is there a place to fill w/basic H20 tap in Flagstaff?  On day #2 of 4 to Flagstaff.   Hwy 22 in N. Alabama to N. Mississippi is a 3 lane rolling hill wonderfully...

    Yummy instant potato find

Countless ways to spruce them up too.  I like mine with dill weed. I remember as a kid mixing in ketsup to make a sort of tangy reddish-pink  concoction too.  Mmmm...lip smackin good!

Official Summer RTR Dates: June 16-26, 2016

My minivan cargo space is limited and was wondering if I would regret leaving a portable propane heater (4,500-8,000 BTU) behind.  There is a possibility that after the RTR I would meander north w/a max destination of Glacier NP.  To return home (Fla.) in the Fall from wherever I am. I'm...

Official Summer RTR Dates: June 16-26, 2016

Planning to head out this Thursday. Had some wood rot and roofing needs to take care of that turned into some drama and delayed progress a bit. Put up a few hurricane shutters, and secured the windows. Although we're getting some fairly intense rain & wind, Thursday should only be getting...

    Fridge vs Yeti

Neighbors use Yeti when hunting in Fla.  They claim it lasts about 5 days.

Dog peeing on objects including people? Wondering about the level of mosquitoes normally in the Flagstaff area, or any other regional issues to be aware of for us out of staters.   Weather forecast looks really inviting!  80's/40's.  Of course, for us Floridians, 40's will feel like the Arctic...

    Hi

I do not believe it has to be in the newcomers section.  Find a category that most closely matches your question(s) and go for it!   If it makes you feel more comfortable, just can mention that you are a newcomer in the post but it really isn't necessary I don't think.

    Hi

Welcome Moondancer! It sounds like you have quite a bit of concern about the reliability of your SUV. Maybe someone more mechanically minded than I can give you better advice but I do know that even though it has a ton of miles, if it's been maintained, you're ahead of the game. How's the...

What is outside your door?? *pictures*

philliparron Just checked out the links and have to say that your photos are breathtaking! And, "Pigpen" was so joyful and full of life. Great to see. Thank you. Really enjoyed them! Keep 'em coming :)

    Daihatsu siting

Not something you see everyday in the States.  I was at Home Depot and this cute little rig caught my eye.  (The side view mirror was priceless!)  I just had to take a few pics!   The guy retrieving carts in the parking lot said that it had been parked there in the same spot for a few days. ...

    Paint that sticks to Reflectix?

Minivan Window Update: (not trying to hijack the thread.  Just seemed like it was the right place to post.) I had purchased Black colored black out curtains that were on sale.  Minivan has so many curvy and non-metallic surfaces, it's nearly impossible to get a spring rod, bungy cords or hooks...

    Folding Bike advice

I now have a cheap crappy mountain style bike that if it were on bike rack, I wouldn't lose sleep over if it got stolen.  Bike theft prevention has probably been covered on another thread, but that would be my concern.  I assume a standard bike on a bike rack on minivan would need to be...

    Folding Bike advice

Saw this Craigs ad and called.  Two folding bikes at a consignment store. The blue one is a Neobike (offshoot of Dahon) and the other is a possibly a Dahon (only label able to be read is Sturmey Archer). Both single speed.  I would prefer a 3 speed, but maybe this would be a good one to start...

    Money ramble

I'm with you on the whole "being independent of every system as I possibly can, including banks," thinking.  Keep as very little in the system as possible.  Here's some thoughts, for whatever they're worth:   Have you considered a location to safely cache some of your valuables to be accessed...

    Almond Milk

I like them all! Rice, Almond, Coconut.....Plain and Vanilla.   Wally World carries 1/2 gallon cartons of AlmondCoconut!  Yea, Almond Coconut combo! I use it in my coffee.  Need to water it down for cereal.  I bit too thick otherwise. Freezing Almond (Almond Coconut) milk doesn't work well...
