I posted a few years ago about a VW bus that had been converted to a solar-powered camper, so I don't agree with the claim of "world's first". It didn't have the range and cooking would need to be a solar oven to make it completely solar.
I've ordered stuff from digi-key over the years, but didn't know they had workampers. I'm not sure that I'd want to go to Thief River Falls if that is where they still are. Still stuck stationary in Oregon.
BLM varies on where they allow vehicles. They are supposed to have MVUM available for areas where vehicles are not allowed everywhere, but last I check they were not done. They do place signs in some areas where vehicles and camping are not allowed, but they can get vandalaized.
Dry weather and early fire season in Southern Oregon. 103 F in Medford yesterday, hottest day so far. Don't count on being able to have a camp fire in the area, be extremely cautious if you do.
AAA for Motorhomes has a bad reputation where you can get it, not available everywhere. Stories of sending car tow trucks, etc.
Coachnet is what I used, they did a good job with my motorhome.
I'm sure disposal depends a lot on what and where it is.
Mississippi river area is due for a large earthquake, may teach some not to build in brick. Won't kill as many as when Yellowstone goes up, but that is on a longer scale. Sea level is on the rise, think about that before investing in low elevation property.
I5 is back open, but 62, 97, 99, 138, and 199 all have significant closures due to fires in southern Oregon. Hazardous air quality in most of southern Oregon expected to last for days. Estimated 600 homes and 100 businesses destroyed in Phoenix and Talent Oregon alone, at least 2 dead.
The same applies in Oregon. Two major north-south routes have closures due to fires, Interstate 5 is closed in Ashland, OR, (entire city on "be ready" alert) and Highway 97 is closed north of Chiliquin.
My info is 4 years old, so verify before counting on it.
The casino in Florence is pretty good for a casino that allows RVs to overnight. There are a couple of free NF campgrounds in the general area, but they tend to be trashed.
A casino 10 miles south of the (OR/CA) border isn't too bad.
NBC is advertising that their new Peacock streaming service will be free. It looks like it will be ad supported old TV shows. I think it's supposed to start in a few days.
Most government owned campgrounds have time limits, frequently two weeks. Only hosts are allowed longer.
The BLM has LTVAs, both the winter type that are open "camp anywhere" (if self contained) land and summer campground type. Search for that for info.
Commercial campgrounds are more likely...
Summer jobs are much easier to find. Winter you may need to take an unpaid volunteer position until you have experience. (or just camp on blm land, moving every couple of weeks.)
Depending on your plan, you may be de-prioritized compared to other users. (Maybe over a certain quota.) If they were changing software or hardware this could have been temporarily disabled, giving you priority again.
The casino in Winterhaven used to allow overnighting for a night or two, while technically in California, it's on the AZ side of the CA checkpoint and closer to Yuma than other legal options.
It's a 4-core Arm at 1.5 GHz. Two USB 3.0 ports, two 2.0, and GHz ethernet, previous only had USB 2.0 and shared bandwidth with the wired ethernet. I have not tried video editing.
It's much faster than my previous system, but that was 5 years old and had a low-end laptop chipset of that time.
After purchasing a Raspberry Pi 4B (4 Gig) on a black friday sale, I have switched over to using it as my main desktop computer. So far I am really happy with it: faster and more memory than my old Intel NUC, and has higher display resolution. I am using the Raspian operating system (based on...
Other options include towing a car behind a motorhome or bus, or a pickup with a 5th wheel or trailer. Many cities do not allow sleeping in vehicles other than at an RV park.
