    Just a little advice.

It might be a good idea to keep your house as a rental property so you have steady income.  Maybe your family isn't interested, but someone might be.  You'd have to be willing to take on the responsibilities of being a landlord and would probably want someone managing the property for you, but...

    Hitch Box

But you said you already bought your hitch and are now looking for info on a box.  I thought Doug gave lots of good info on the cargo box itself as well as the hitch. Well, anyway, if you Google hitch "cargo box" reviews, you'll find a number of review sites with good comparisons

I know zilch zip zero about cars!

Maki, I know which state I want to go to already - I guess I wasn't clear about that. Research is kinda my thing, almost a hobby, and so I've been researching this every day while coming up with new ideas. Now I am thinking this is the best way to do it. So, what I'm looking for from...

    Hitch Box

The late Doug Begley of Strolling Amok wrote two very detailed blog posts about his StowAway cargo box, which was on a swing-away support.  He always gave such a lot of good info in his reviews, so check them out (links below). The first post explains mounting the box on the swing-away arm, and...

    "Why Am I Doing This...

Mark, you're still young and your plan sounds sensible to me.  Go for it!

I know zilch zip zero about cars!

Hey everybody, I have another question. I am thinking of going to another state in order to buy a car - a state that is  known for having good deals on rust-free used cars. However, I don't really know anyone who lives in that state (or lost touch with people I knew) and am not knowledgeable...

    Inflatable camp bed vs. foam

I vote for the latex foam.  Personally, I hate memory foam because it makes a hollow that you have to pull yourself out of.  It's definitely not good for people who toss and turn.  But genuine, natural latex foam is not like that and is comfy.  As for firmness, you should read this post that...

    Grand Caravan Conversion

Is that a big ol' propane tank I see?  If yes, are you planning to keep that inside your sleeping area?

    Hickory Dickory Dock

All natural bug repellents made with essential oils to wear on one's body usually include peppermint as an ingredient. I always put a few drops in the water for washing my wood floors, too. But how did you distribute the peppermint in your van? On cotton balls?

    absolute musts - essentials

I recently read about a trick in a book I've got: take a headlamp and wrap it 2x around a water bottle with the lamp facing in toward the bottle, and you've got a lantern! I think that is a cool little hack.

    Powdered Whole Eggs

I never even knew there was such a thing as powdered eggs until I saw this thread!  Wow.  I don't think I'd want to try them.

    Social Security Address to use?

Hey Angie, What did you wind up doing? Were you able to furnish some kind of proof of address and continue getting services? I hope it all worked out for you!

I know zilch zip zero about cars!

Hi popcorn, I love popcorn btw.  I make it all the time!  Thanks for your response. Still trying to figure that out, but let's just say "not much" for now. Not right away. The thread I linked to in my 1st post gives a little more detail on that. Where is "here?" I'm dealing with some...

Question about Campers in the US vs Britten

Your link is to a German site, not UK or Britain.  The roads in Europe tend to be narrow, especially in towns that are centuries old. Hence, many cars, trucks, buses, etc. over there are narrow and tall.

I don't think I can afford a vehicle that is new enough to still be under warranty.

I know zilch zip zero about cars!

When you go to buy a car from a private seller, how is it possible to buy insurance before driving it home?  Are private sellers usually willing to wait for someone to look at a car and then come back to have a mechanic look at it, pay for it, and already have insurance? I am also reading up on...

I know zilch zip zero about cars!

CPO = Certified Pre-Owned. That's what tx2sturgis suggested I look for. Yes, I find that very frustrating. Did you see my post after that one, with the Toyota Highlander?

I know zilch zip zero about cars!

Hmm... after doing a little searching, looks like CPO cars are a bit beyond the realm of possibilities for me, price-wise.   But millions of people buy used cars every day - why should it be problematic for me?  I wish I had somebody who knows this stuff to go with me.  I'm trying to get in...
