    Lithium batteries and fires

IMNSHO - every single flat-topped commercial big box building in this country ought to be required to have a solar array on top of it. I don't know whether it's true that all public utilities are required, when they want to build a new generating facility, to first consider how they might tap...

    Sheeps Wool or Polyiso

But they sure as hell will nest in it! And keep in mind that mice can get through an amazingly small crack, so if you use this, make sure your wall is well-sealed.

Ok so what is your favorite Christmas cookie?

Since I now react pretty badly to chocolate - Spritz, hands down. Although I'd never turn down a good lemon bar.

    What are you doing today?!

Oh, I TOTALLY believe this. My theory is that the sound of moving water resets something like a clock deep inside us. And the louder and more rhythmic the sound the more profound the resetting.

    What are you doing today?!

Taking the day off from my brother today. Drove straight to the beach, and parked where I can hear the surf. Was afraid I'd feel guilty, but so far, not a twinge...

    24/7 Chat About Anything

Hmmm, I also had to retire my Clam due to extensive roiof damage. If I buy another one, I'm going to want a very sturdy rain fly. I was thinking about approaching one of those custom tarp businesses for a rain fly made of UV vinyl. Instead, I got one of these -...

Homelessness [split from Leadville and Salida Ranger Districts]

Absolutely. This kicking people out when there is no place for them to go just has to stop. Fortunately, there have been a few judges in a few places who have seen this particular light. Screaming and gnashing of teeth has ensued. I say, tough.

    Power Supply

I have a single 200 ah LiFePo battery that I recharge with a van roof-mounted 286w solar panel. Although I haven't really tested it, I believe my system could run my 12v referigerator for 3, possibly 4, winter/sunless/coolish days. So, Tony, I think what you are asking for would not be...

    Furnaces created equal?

Wherever you buy your $130 heater, compare return policies. Or take a (very) deep breath and buy a Webasto or an Espar. IIRC, either Foresty Forest or Slim Potatohead (or maybe both?) found a way to deal with the clicking.

    Solar Panel Idea

Weeeell - that's just HoboTech. If you want his info - and I sometimes do - you just have to put up with his BS. As I recall, my used 286-watt residential panel from SanTan cost a whole $98.

    Telescopes

Thanks for the info. I am looking for a campground that bans car headlights after dark! My van is not 4-wheel drive, so anyplace I can get to will be subject to headlights.

    Telescopes

I am not real likely to ever get to Florida. But I love this idea, are you aware of any similar campgrounds in the west?

    Solar generators

But it's not an either/or proposition. I have a real solar setup. I also have a Jackery, and very glad to have it, especially as the days get shorter and grayer. I can recharge the Jackery from any available wall plug.

Connecting MaxAir Fan to Bluetti & Diagnosing Electrical Set-Up

Take abnorm up on his offer! It's worth the drive! You really don't NEED solar until/unless you get a refrigerator. A power station will keep you going until then. Buy the largest one you can pay cash for, it will always come in handy. Buy it from Home Depot because if it's necessary to return...

Besides the obvious, like insurance and food - gas, regular oil changes, and saving for the next set of tires

    RTR?

In many western states, especially the drier ones, a large percentage of land is in federal hands, and much of this is open to dispersed camping. These lands were never claimed by private owners because they lacked reliable water. https://ballotpedia.org/Federal_land_ownership_by_state

    Barn door weatherstripping

I've never applied those products, and I've had the van for about 6 years now. Closer inspection of the gasket reveals minor cracking on some edges, so it is showing its age. Don't wanna apply a mostly permanent adhesive to an aging gasket, so I guess I'm gonna look for a replacement. Stay tuned...

    RTR?

Since the RTR is taking place in a public park that does not allow camping, everyone has to do just that. La Posa South is about 3 miles from the event, and that's where Doug's Pirate Camp will be. Of course, lots of folks camp there, but it's not like a regular campground at all. There are no...
