RV park life, is it affordable for low income?

Pretty much my list, except I'd throw in a library. Could be a small branch that is only open a couple days a week though. I don't NEED a library, but I am just really happy hanging out in them! Also, a town pool would be nice. Not that I actually swim...

Pros and Cons of Van-Life out West

You'll see a lot of them on the Columbia! But you're right, most western rivers are too small and/or too rocky for that kind of traffic.

Need to set up a permanent address in Arizona

Yes. And they will forward your mail to wherever you are.

California no longer the highest price fuel in the nation (gasoline)

Oregon has always had the cheapest gas prices on the west coast. No mystery - they have the lowest tax rate at the pump!

Which bank is most convenient for van life?

It's possible that your small local bank belongs to some kind of wider network that would allow you fee-free ATM withdrawals. Ask them. Or just use your debit card for cash back. There's usually a limit on how much you can withdraw this way. Just go to more stores! I've belonged to the same...

RV park life, is it affordable for low income?

I use the "no tents" criterion to find RV parks that are likely to accept my cargo van - just run it backwards. Call up an RV park and ask them if they accept tents. IME, if they accept tents they will also accept the vehicle that brings the tent.

Good Bank or Credit Union in the Southwest?

The credit union you already belong to may belong to a network of other credit unions where you can do in-person banking just as if you were visiting your own home branch. Mine does. Call yours up and ask.

How to build it right, the FIRST time!

Agree, but please note - Chrome has not (yet) changed vehicles. He just keeps improving the one he started out with. Which was definitely bare bones when he started. He has done it pay-as-you-go and learn-as-you-live.

How to know when your Lifepo house battery is charged

Yes, I took a hugely deep breath when I bought the Renogy. The deciding factor for me was weight. My van has a V-6 engine... I have to say I am VERY pleased with it. It just works.

How to know when your Lifepo house battery is charged

I have a 200 ah Renogy battery with bluetooth. The bluetooth function tells me that right now my battery level is at 91.8%. It also tells me that my present capacity is 183.6 ah, present voltage is 13.2v, present current is 8.8a (my fan is running, the refer is currently not), and the cell...

How to know when your Lifepo house battery is charged

My LiFePo battery has a bluetooth function that lets me know. Also, I believe my MPPV controller would tell me - if I could figure out how to read it!

    OREGON '23...............Postcards from the Road

Thanks Ben. I hope so too. The doc is talking about relerasing him on Tuesday, but while that is a step forward, it won't mean I can leave. The doc is telling him he can no longer drive, which means I will have to help teach him how to use the bus and other means of getting around. He actually...

How much water do you use for showers?- survey

I can clean the essentials with about 6 ounces of water, a wash cloth, and a no-rinse-needed body wash. Usually every other day. My (shortish) hair requires about 2 quarts - a cup or so to get it wet enough to shampoo, the rest to rinse it out. I use a leave-in conditioner, and I only NEED to...

    OREGON '23...............Postcards from the Road

Alas, I am now back in Anaheim, trying to run interference for my brother who can't do it for himself. He was taken to the hospital about a week ago, having an emotional breakdown. So I am spending my nights in his apartment parking lot, and my days at a neighborhood park. This is entirely too...

    What are YOU listening to??

Yeah, I've been doing the memory lane thing too... Been listening to her ever since I started listening to music, about 1962. My favorite? It's Tina and Mick. Not the best music either one of them ever made, but the most sheer fun. I know it's only rock and roll, but I like it. Story of my...

    RTR?

Many of us think that's the best way to do it in the first place! Unless you've spent a fair amount of time traveling and camping in your vehicle, how will you know what you want? Just because something works great for ME doesn't mean it will work great for YOU. The only thing you really NEED...

Fridge AND Freezer in a Minivan? Am I insane?

You can put anything that will fit into your minivan, and no one here will even say "boo". It's your van. All you need to do is add up the electrical demand of the items you want to use (this info will be found on the product specs), make sure you have the battery capacity to support that use...
