Dating and van life. How does one go about this?

I was a PhD student in Psychology before I left university because I could actually make a living doing IT and Cybersecurity, and because jobs in academia are few and far between. But readers need to understand that Psychology is a science. And in that science, "sex" and "gender" have very...

Dating and van life. How does one go about this?

No, he listed two sexes. "Gender" refers to social, psychological, cultural, and behavioral constructs particular to humans. These constructs vary quite broadly across different groups of humans, as well as individually. tl;dr Sex is a biological term, while gender is a socio-psychological one.

What annual income do YOU consider "wealthy"?

"We all too often have socialism for the rich and rugged free market capitalism for the poor." ---the Rev'd. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The Big 5 personality traits linked to lifelong singlehood

Also, I feel happy when I cook for someone - as long as she's a normal level of appreciative about it. No need to go on and on, just a smile and a "thanks, babe - that was good!" That kinda goes for most things in both directions ;)

What annual income do YOU consider "wealthy"?

In my mind, "wealthy" ("jr. wealthy" ?) begins at around $400K/yr annual income. Anything roughly below that is upper middle class these days.

Straight Talk Wireless: New Unlimited Phone Plan for $25, $200 for new phone after a year so pay $300 get $200 back! Verizon network.

My experience with a Motorola phone, albeit 5+ years ago, was just fine. But YMMV as they say. I have heard pretty decent reviews of budget-minded Samsung devices...

Straight Talk Wireless: New Unlimited Phone Plan for $25, $200 for new phone after a year so pay $300 get $200 back! Verizon network.

Dunno what sort of phone you have, but we brought over our existing iPhones w/o any issue. And mine isn't the latest model by a long shot, a 2nd gen. iPhone SE I bought as a refurb from Apple. Any phones do have to be Verizon-compatible (i.e. supports CDMA). Visible also has some pretty...

Straight Talk Wireless: New Unlimited Phone Plan for $25, $200 for new phone after a year so pay $300 get $200 back! Verizon network.

I'm a Visible customer, and have been for several years. Visible is not only an MVNO for Verizon, they are wholly owned by them. Regular Visible service is indeed subject to Quality of Service (QoS) throttling on towers which are really crowded vs. some, more expensive Verizon plans. Their...

The Sacrifices Made By The Declaration Signers

Aaaaand we have, almost immediately, a response demonstrating the tu quoque fallacy* (Latin for "you also"). So like I said, I respect your right to have ideas and opinions, but I don't respect these particular ones themselves... Facts are real. Facts matter. * The logical fallacy where...

The Sacrifices Made By The Declaration Signers

There was a group of "conservatives" which figured out right around the time of Reagan (and spurred on by the failure of the Nixon presidency) that they couldn't win on facts and policy. They decided that an appeal to ignorance, opinion, and bigotry was their only way forward to winning votes...

    Mini-Van-Camper-Conversion

At least on the model years we owned, the middle seats were consumer-removable and had no electrical connections. The side curtain airbags were in the sidewall, not in the seats, and the seats were manually adjustable (no elec motors).

    Mini-Van-Camper-Conversion

We've owned two Odysseys over the years and been quite happy with them. Great road trip vehicles. Examining those pics above, it looks like the middle row seats still come out the same way as ours did (?) They're heavy, but being able to remove them is very handy for extra space (I understand...

How can I help someone who lives in their vehicle?

Good article! Very even-handed and full of practical suggestions. I'm glad you led with the concept of voluntary vs. involuntary nomads, and that only some nomads may even want help... (y)

    Latin American sightings

I really like the Hiace. Great size / design. Wish they sold them new in the U.S., esp. with a diesel motor.

    MSG = Yum Yum

The whole "MSG is bad for you" / so-called "Chinese restaurant syndrome" thing is a bunch of bunk. MSG, used properly and in reasonable amounts, is a safe food. https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/how-msg-got-a-bad-rap-flawed-science-and-xenophobia/

    Social security insolvency 2033

Thanks very much for this. I was gonna go into a long(-ish) post about this "insolvency" nonsense, but your explanation was clear and succinct. Besides, when the gov't "borrows" from the SS trust fund, the fund essentially purchases a gov't bond. Just like you or I can buy. If U.S. gov't bonds...

    Camping coffee bags

All I know is that people who like the Aeropress like it A LOT. To the point of proselytizing sometimes. If you're an IT person, think of how some Linux users are when trying to convert Windows or Mac folks... 😆 I think the Aeropress is a bit more complicated that just doing a pour-over. But...

    Camping coffee bags

These don't brew up a strong enough cup for me, tho' YMMV. I just go for a simple Melitta cone filter holder that fits over a mug + #2 cone coffee filters. Heat water in a kettle and make a pour-over. Easy peasy.
