    Question about solar generators.

The bluetti ac200max seems pretty good with 2000 watthours of lifepo4. I like that it can handle up to 900 watts of solar. Reading the reviews one thing that concern me was the loud noise from the inverter fans. That would be a dealbreaker for me. Unless you put the unit in another area while it...

Charge controller and inverter charger combo

there won't be any conflicts. The battery can have many charge inputs. If your using the xantrex to charge the battery and the solar controller is also charging, they both will be monitoring the battery voltage and one or the other will shutoff/float once the battery reaches the proper voltage.

Any data on daily usage for refrigerators?

My joytutu 26 liter 12 volt fridge uses about 19 amps during a 24 hour period, I have it set to 36F. But it can use even more if its real hot inside my van, I seen it go up to about 40 amps in very hot weather when I first got it. But one thing I did figure out was if I vent the fridge...

Transmission dilemma on a Chevy Express 1500

I would change the fluid/filter before I change the entire transmission, dirty fluid or low fluid will cause you problems. My 1986 astrovan with 4.3 liter, I changed the fluid last year it wasn't causing any problems but I had the van almost 10 years and it was overdue a fluid change. On my van...

Need Help selecting a city for minivan life!

the weather you describe is the san diego area, its sunny year around. It only gets in the 40's at night, once the sun comes out its back in the 70's. In the summer its mostly in the 70's/80's, sometimes you go years without a heatwave (heatwave is in the 90's hot and humid). Winter if your van...

Minivan - Portable Refrigerator - Dashboard Almost Burning Up

sometimes there are things that are unrelated but happened at the same time. When the engine is running check the voltage to make sure the alternator is putting out at least 14.4 volts. That will at least rule out the alternator that is going out. What the 12 volt fridge draws is insignificant...

    First solar install

I bought it off craiglist 2 years ago for 250, brand new they are 350 to 400 dollars. I use a makeskyblue 60a mppt controller. I recommend the makeskyblue 60a because it has voltage calibration to compensate for any voltage drop between controller and the battery, it also has an LCD screen where...

    First solar install

The roof on your van is large enough for a giant solar panel, thats all you need, it will easily charge your power station. I have a single 365 watt panel on my small astrovan, the larger the panel the better performance in winter. My batterybanks a 220ah lifepo4 and 312ah li-ion are all charged...

Split charge relay capable of charging 360Ah Battery Bank?

400 watts divided by 14.8 volts will give you about 27 amps in the best conditions (summer with the sun overhead and a low battery) . You don't need to disconnect the solar, the solar controller when it see's a full a battery will reduce the amps going into the battery. Even with the DC to DC...

    Debating which to do first.

put your electrical first, then everything else. If the only thing on your roof is the panel, you can just use 4 "L" brackets like I did on mine. I have a 365 watt panel on my roof, you probably need something similar or larger with all the batteries you have. You can also put a vent fan under...

Split charge relay capable of charging 360Ah Battery Bank?

The readings are accurate, no voltage drop. And you have the setting correct with "sealed battery" which is 14.4 volts. Just verify the sealed batteries require 14.4 volts, and not something higher. My 27ah fullriver agm which I'm using as a start battery (requires 14.7 volts bulk) , I have to...

Split charge relay capable of charging 360Ah Battery Bank?

yes, when you get a multimeter verify the voltage on the terminals. If the MT50 LCD is reading 13.6 volts the battery terminal have to be 13.6 volts also. If the battery terminals are 13.2 volts, then you have a .4 volts voltage drop, you compensate by raising the bulk voltage by .4 volts (from...

Split charge relay capable of charging 360Ah Battery Bank?

The voltage readings you are getting off the solar controller? because 14.4 volts by noon might actually be voltage drop. The controller might be reading 14.4 volts and think the battery is full and reduce amps. The panels putting out 13.2 amps is good, its what I usually get in winter, so your...

Split charge relay capable of charging 360Ah Battery Bank?

How many amps are you getting from your solar panels? with my 365 watt panel I get up to 12 amps in winter when the sun is out, you should be getting something similar or higher with your 400 watts. Measure the voltage at the battery terminals, you should be getting the batteries up to 14.4...

    Solar power won't properly charge

all charge controllers I have used pwm and mppt were miscalibrated. The controller were reading higher than the actual battery terminals. On my ecoworthy 20a mppt I had to get the bulk setting to 15.5 volts just to reach 14.6 volts on the battery terminals. If I kept the bulk setting at 14.6...

    Solar power won't properly charge

From what I can see on the pictures the batteries you are using aren't deep cycle, there more like a start battery. Those batteries need to be fully charged every day to 14.4 volts or they lose potency. I suspect you have voltage drop from the controller to the battery. The controller is...

    sidewall mount for vent fan

on my roof I have a 14 inch vortex fan, I just removed the cover and place the solar panels over the vent. In 8 years never had rain come in through the roof. vent under the 365 watt solar panel I also have side vents but rarely use them anymore, the air coming in through the sides gets too...

    Questions regarding batts and panels

not with lifepo4. Lifepo4 reads 13.1 volts the majority of the time, it won't take long to reach 13.8 volts. My charge controllers wouldn't be charging the battery at more than 1 to 2 amps at 13.8 volts. I keep my charge controller bulk voltage at about 14.2 volts when the 220ah lifepo4 isnt...

Lithium Ion Batteries and the Phenomenon of Thermal Runaway

I been using lithium for the past 4 years, I only had 1 fire, but that occurred when I shorted out a lifepo4 26650 cell. As long as you don't mistreat them they are safe. Even after the fire I still use the same 26650 lifepo4 cells, I'm just more careful in handling them. Due to reading how...

    Insulation?

I had to build my own, on the "heating and air conditioning" section there is post on the recent dual stage swampcooler I been testing. It has been working great, if i build anymore they will be dual stage, the performance is noticeable compared to just a regular swampcooler. I never seen anyone...
