Where would you go to live temporarily while finding a new rig?

My trailer got damaged last Aug. and then I got laid off. So I took a temp job at DigiKey in MN. Bob Wells has a video about the job, which includes housing. I started in October, found a nice trailer at a great price (a buyers market in the MN winter!) and will be heading south at the end of...

    Imperial Dam

Imperial Dam costs $187 (last year, anyway) to stay there as long as Sept. to April. I think it's well worth it. Dump station, potable water, filtered water, garbage dumpsters, mail delivery, LP fill, and close to everything Yuma offers. Less social interaction, though- which may be a plus!

So how do you do it?

As a chef, that is the reason I went with a trailer instead of a van. Still a reduction in cooking volume, but fewer people to cook for!

Mail in the desert - which LTVA

I spent 3 winters at Imperial Dam. There are crowed areas but also isolated areas. It's pretty big. They also have an on-site mail & package delivery pick-up service and you can use that as your address. Plus you're about 30-40 minutes from Walmart and Home Depot.

Medicare vs. Medicare Advantage (open enrollment ends Dec. 7)

The reason I stay with traditional Medicare: "Advantage plans can also be problematic if you are traveling or spending part of each year away from home. If you live in Philadelphia but get sick on vacation in Florida, all local providers may be out of network."

In 3 Years I'm Looking To Caravan All Year Only In Nevada With Some New Friends

The escapees co-op requires a $10,000 buy-in once you get through the waiting list, plus $100 a month for 'maintenance'. I guess you can rent a space from a lot owner, but not long term.

    Califonia plates renewal

Imperial Dam LTVA near Yuma has mail delivery that uses a CA address, as it actually is just over the AZ border.

    Digi-Key Workamper

I thought about working there this winter because they will pay for a hotel if you don't have an RV. But if you have a pet, you pay for the room and they reimburse you for it minus the pet fee, which seems to run $10-20 a day. But I can't find a place that allows cats, so I'll wait until next...

    Trailer, Breakdown , Towing

First of all, I didn't say it was the only time I used it. Secondly, I didn't have the money at that time to pay for the tow. Third, it makes me feel better to have it.

    Trailer, Breakdown , Towing

I've used CoachNet for the 9 years I've been a full-timer. Had a tow of my van and trailer a few years ago that would have cost $700. Only cost me a $20 tip to the driver.

Yeti w ice or junk ice chest ?

I used a Coleman Extreme. Worked great at a fraction of the Yeti price. Has great reviews.

    NorCal beaches, anyone?

That sounds great, but I have 3 more summers of workamping until retirement. I'll be in touch then! ;)

    Yuma winter gigs

I'm not looking for traditional workamper jobs, more like golf courses or maybe even Walmart. Just looking for other people's experiences there.

    Yuma winter gigs

I’ll check it out but commute times are relative. I have no problem driving into Yuma while at Imperial for groceries and In& Out Burger!

    Yuma winter gigs

I'll be spending Oct-Mar at Imperial Dam LTVA. Does anyone have any experience getting a part time job in Yuma during that time? I would think there'd be plenty of jobs available when the snow birds arrive.

    Bluetti AC200MAX vs. AC300 Bundles

I got the original AC200 9/20. I have 2 250W panels from Santan Solar. It runs most everything, including a mattress pad heater all night. Fully charged in the winter (Yuma) by early-mid afternoon. Doesn't run my espresso machine or my coffee roaster.
