    Building Arabella

Okay, we don't need to correct everyone else, especially when they do and say nothing wrong. John61ct, do NOT POST TO THIS THREAD ANY MORE.

    Legalities of residency

Google your states requirements and do what it takes to meet them. Normally, paying for a months rent at a RV Park will do it, but double check that.

    RTR-Starry night's Photography-Camera under $300?

90 second exposure will be a star trail, not a star shot. Especially with a normal lens. Wide angle hides the trail so you don't see it as well.

    Seasonal job alaska

Many years ago I spent a summer as a tour guide in Kotzebue Alaska (which is north of the Arctic circle on the Chukchi Sea) for one of the really big tour companies. I loved it. It is an ancient Eskimo Village where many still lived a fairly traditional life. They provided a hotel room and one...

Review of four stove types for vans

I've been using a single burner Coleman stove for years--works great. Yes, butane is much, much more expensive per gallon.

Thanks so much for sharing this info. I had a very low-income friend who did get what he called an "Obamaphone" It was the only phone he had or could afford (free).

Practical Self Defense For Everyone (including you)

When I got my CCW the instructor was a retired cop and he told us that avoidance was king and then he offered us a truly unique way to prevent a problem before it starts. This was it: If you see someone who causes you any concern or worries, do this simple thing: look them in the eye and raise...

Load D vs Load E van tires

If people say things that are wrong, or you are sure they are wrong, then you should politely correct them--no problem with that. However, you please need to let them say it before you correct them, I think the forum will work much better that way.

Turn my truck into a solar system

Here is a 305 watt panel for $241, an excellent price. The size is 65 by 40. My guess is you could mount two of them on a shell and one on the cab and get 915 watts on the Tacoma. It would probably hang over a bit but you could make it work...

    Outdoor Spirit solar phone charger

You can get folding 15 watt panels on Amazon for about $40. Far better deal!

Women Only: Safety on the road - sexual assault

I'm going to break the rules here, but I think the circumstances warrant it. This is the first time I've ever posted in the women's forum and hopefully will be the last. If you are going to blame the moderators and feel disappointed with the forum and me, I think it's fair I get to answer.  I...

    Quietest Generator

Two of the most important things that the extra money for a Honda or Yamaha buys you are 1) quality control, and 2) dealer network and support. You buy a Honda or Yamaha, and it's going to run right and if you get one of the very, very few that don't, you're going to get it made right. There's...

    Looking at a F150 4x4 supercrew cab

Unless you have a back seat that folds away really well, I'd pull it out and build a platform that gives you the whole area to sleep in, including the footwells. That'll give you more storage underneath and more sleeping area.

    Hiking / Parkspots / Experiences

Arizona is the place to be in the winter! Get some books on hiking there and there are just tons of great hikes. KOFA NWR is especially good. In spring when the wildflowers bloom, Arizona is spectacular!

    Opinions needed, anybody have one?

Unless you are a mechanic AND LIKE TINKERING WITH YOUR VAN, WALK AWAY. You're going to be spending a lot of time on piddling little problems that are still very annoying. One way we get such great MPG out of these vans is that everything is as light as possible, which means its less rugged and...

Official DATES for RTR 2018: Rules and Maps

A singles gathering is a great idea!! It really is as simple as you tell me where and when and we schedule it. I'd suggest an evening gathering at your trailer if you are bringing it. Maybe at 6:00 or 7:00 pm. One problem might be if you are only coming for the weekend, you may be far out of...
