Wouldn't the ceiling fans be too noisy?

Here's a well done video that clearly shows some of the right and wrong things to do when towing. https://fb.watch/7i_gAO87w5/ MG

    Air inlets into vehicle?

If your vehicle has a cabin air filter, take a look at the air intake above it that probably goes to an opening roughly under your wipers. Looking for it or at it may require a flashlight and a mirror. MG

Using your vehicle's built-in features while camped

Neither of my last 2 posts said anything about using the fan or the rambling air ducts of my car car. The air intake for all cabin air functions is an unobstructed opening from up near the right wiper on the outside (though hard to see and reach) to near the air filter and fan behind the glove...

Using your vehicle's built-in features while camped

That's what I'm thinking. I want to put my own fan blowing air out through the same route that the car system draws air in. I've already spent time with my head and arms in the area and I think I can permanently mount a fan to do this. Installation will probably be a one time pain in the ass...

Using your vehicle's built-in features while camped

I hear you. After second thoughts and what the others said I'm going to leave the electrical part of it alone. Especially because the fan is on the IGN key setting and so is the isolation solenoid for the deep cycle. But, I have another idea. My car and many others these days have the...

    Tents

The steppes of Mongolia are wide open and prone to high winds.  The Mongols brought their hearth and home out of that area to conquer most of the known world.  Their homes were yurts and resistance to wind is discussed in this forum. Sleeping in a sedan - options?

Front wheel drive Kia Sportage uses 50% more gas. It has compensating rewards but yeah, the Saturn was great. MG

Using your vehicle's built-in features while camped

I have no qualms about using my dome light to deal with things in the middle of the night. It uses almost no power and is about 2-3 feet from my face. Can't talk me out of that one. If someone is on the edge about a few minutes of dome light power usage, there are LED replacements for most of...

Using your vehicle's built-in features while camped

I've been thinking about this some more since I first posted. The key would have to be in the ignition position to use the fan and that would eliminate the isolation between the batteries from the relay and probably power lots of things that I didn't want powered. At least I got a chance to...

Using your vehicle's built-in features while camped

This is something I've been thinking about too. I have gone for days at a time with regular use of the radio, some use of the dome light and occasional opening and closing of windows. Even in cold weather, this hasn't bothered the starting battery. I've come up with several Ideas that...

Sleeping in a sedan - options?

Hi,  I'm six feet tall and spent a lot of time exploring the world in a small, 2 door, Saturn S.  It even had a deep cycle battery in the box built under the pillow.  Many happy memories. MG

    Any SUV dwellers?

The Kia Sportage RV is a part-time RV / work in progress.  Every time I return home I have a list of changes and improvements, Right now the front seat is folded down on top of itself with a box on top of it.  The lid closes and locks down for travel. The right, rear seat is the widest of the...

Is it safe to climb on top of a high top van to fix a leak?

If you distribute your weight with something like a ladder or sheet of plywood there should be no problem going on the roof to fix a leak. On the other hand, its just silly to go up on the roof to take a leak. MG

Never saw one of these mattresses for a car, or other..

For about 30 years my therma-rest air mattress has served me well, mostly. I removed a back seat in my car and replaced it with a box fastened down with the same bolts. With the front right seat forward, a removable box fits between the first box and the seat. The back of the car and the 2...

    The Kia Sportage RV

For a few decades, hitting the road meant folding or removing a car seat, filling the space with a piece of plywood and a sleeping bag, throwing in some camping gear and leaving.  I've had a deep cycle battery for years that I charged at home or sometimes with jumper cables out the window and...

    No Serious Injuries

It was a busy day on a busy highway and I was the first on the scene.  They could only have been seconds ahead of me.  Four people and 3 dogs.  Two people were taken to hospital, one was for stitches only and the other was to also have a closer look at her ankle. I can't say for sure what...

Kia Sportage RV waiting for Covid restrictions to end

There has been no doubt in my mind that solar panels are part of my future.  I've been reading about them, here and elsewhere, and comparing various products on a huge number of websites.  This was just to learn more.  Honest!  Solar panels are for the future.  Honest!   I had always assumed I...
