    Short-Term Parking

I'm WAY early in this process but am trying to get ahead of the curve just in case. May be getting employment which would call for me to be on the road. If I get it it might also call for me to take occasional flights and leave my RV for a day or so. I know Short-Term Parking at airports is...

Men and their feelings or lack there of

Nature certainly plays a part in this, but my thot is that Nurture's more to blame for the Engrain. (but admittedly this is from a guy who was a stay-at-home dad since his career woman wife was way more financially-able. you know the kind: a war vet turned wimp.) (thaz a joke, son! according...

    Apples apples apples

What's the name of your apple? Personally, the best apple I've EVER tasted--or dried or made pastry with or sauce--is the favorite apple of America in the 19th century...the Northern Spy. (Spitzenbergs are a semi-close second). Problem with it is that it bruises easily so it doesn't ship...

    What are YOU listening to??

I screwed up there--it's early a.m. and I'm ollld--but the comment on Warren Zevon to INTJohn's post got posted here. My apologies. Didn't mean to confuse anybody.

The BLM’s “ Blueprint for 21st Century Outdoor Recreation ”

I don't think a labor dispute/war would fall into the same category as what "eco-" suggests. Again--not supporting murder on either side--if you look at history, the Pinkertons and Guardsmen and Soldiers called in by the mine owners thru their political connection probably killed a helluva lot...

The BLM’s “ Blueprint for 21st Century Outdoor Recreation ”

Dear Maki: Please don't take this as a criticism...it's not meant to be...but the term "eco-terrorist" has rankled me for a lot of years, since I first heard the term used when Weyerhauser (if I recall right) had their PR people refer to people who protested logging by climbing trees and lashing...

    Just For Fun

Considering the site we are on...how badly was the van damaged in the crash? How many miles on it? Is there a Carfax available? Can you post some pictures of it and let us know how to contact the owner in case we're interested? Do you know if he/she/it interested in an offer? I'm really...

No. I'm just damned curious about women's inverters.

    Just For Fun

Oh, let's get real here, people. There's no way in hell that girl could walk on a beach in spike heels, especially given her top-heaviness. And exactly where is this van she's living in? I for one would certainly know what kind of perverter she uses. Oh. Uh. Excuse me...I meant...

    Favorite food for cold weather

My fallback--from backpacking in chilly times--is packets of dry mashed potatoes. Hot water + dry milk + spices + meat a/o cheese and mix to the thickness you like, soup or just mashed? Lightweight and sticks to your ribs...or if thick enough, almost anything else. I still use it in winter...

How Long can I run my 12V electric blanket off Car Battery

I'm pretty close to rruff on this one. Why not use the electriblanket to warm the bed up, then add an unzipped sleeping bag (or bags) over it to keep the body heat in, and shut if off after you're in your "cave"? That way you're putting minimal strain on the battery. If you got enough layers...

New here, going nomad out of necessity

Sorry...I didn't see before posting that you DID list you were in Mississippi. That gives you a little respite from winter to deal with converting. Had you been in Maine or the Dakotas, it would have added that much more to your burden. But I want to re-emphasize: your local ACS chapter may be...

New here, going nomad out of necessity

Posters here have already asked the most important first question necessary: Your Location. But the second most important is: without being cold or invading your privacy, what can you say about your physical condition? I have to assume that if you want to travel, you don't have to be close to...

    SEASHELLS!!

Yeah, those damn people who try to make others laugh sure are the bane of the planet.

    SEASHELLS!!

I cannot help but recall Steven Wright's great line from his first (or perhaps second) appearance on the Tonight Show back in the 80s: "I have the world's largest seashell collection. I keep it on every beach in the world."

Things to do to keep feeling "normal" while living out of your van?

Thank you for explaining. It's completely beyond my understanding. Continued best luck in your endeavors which lay so far beyond my grasp.
