My insurance company won't insure motorhomes that people are living in. Anyway around this?

Can anyone recommend a car insurance company that will insure a motorhome I'm going to live in? My insurance company (Wawanesa) doesn't cover motorhomes unless you have another vehicle covered by them at the same time. They won't insure RV's that people are living in which is too bad because...

The most incredible "car" camper. EVER.

In the VanDwellers Yahoo group there are photos of a Geo Metro someone converted into a little sleeping traveler. He also built a little tear drop trailer that he tows behind it. I forget exactly what he said his MPG was but it was comparable to this Citroen...except his Geo was super CHEAP!

    Unlimited data???

Depending on which StraightTalk phone you buy, StraightTalk uses Verizon, ATT, and T-Mobile towers. There is some code on the side of the StraightTalk phone boxes that tells you which carrier that particular phone uses. I use Solavei now which is 4G unlimited everything for $50 per month and...

How involved is it to remove the house AC unit from the top of a motorhome?

You guys mention using jacks or a fork lift to move the AC after I've disconnected it so I'm assuming it is one heavy beast, right?

Has anyone converted a Toyota box truck into a motorhome?

Has anyone converted a Toyota box truck into a motorhome? Uhaul used to offer them as rentals (see photo below). You'd get a bulletproof reliable Toyota engine with better mpg than V8's too. I would be interested in hearing your thoughts.<br /><br />Thanks<br /><br />Steve

How involved is it to remove the house AC unit from the top of a motorhome?

Thanks Sparky! <br /><br />Are the electrical power wires to the house AC the only thing left behind after I take it out?<br /><br />Do you cap off the remaining power wires with wire nuts?<br /><br />When I take out the interior part of the house AC (the part attached to the ceiling), is the...

21 Foot or Less Affordable Class B?

<br /><br />Yeah probably, but is the mpg that much worse than a Class C?

Why is the resale value of Class A's so low compared to Class C's?

    <br /><br />And its now only $2500.

Why is the resale value of Class A's so low compared to Class C's?

Its in the San Diego Craigslist.

Why is the resale value of Class A's so low compared to Class C's?

Yes, flexibility is key because I don't want anything to be an anchor as I doubt I'll ever "camp" in paid-for campgrounds so I'm still looking. I could be okay with an older Class B but I'm still trying to figure out where I'd store my SUP's, surfboards, and mountain bike. I'm going to look at...

Why is the resale value of Class A's so low compared to Class C's?

I see lots of killer deals on Craigslist for clean used Class A's. The one in the photos is a 91 Chaparral 24'er with only 58,000 miles on it and the guy is asking only $3500...and says he's willing to take any offers. <br /><br />Why do Class A's and even smaller Class A's like this one sell...

21 Foot or Less Affordable Class B?

<br /><br />So true! I'm seeing lots of clean Class A's available for way less than Class B's and Class C's. I don't know why but for some reason the Class A's resale value isn't very good.

Is it difficult to replace an onboard Onan generator with a Honda generator?

I'm going to be looking at a Class C this weekend that looks clean inside and out and has low miles. Only problem is the existing Onan generator doesn't work. I don't know whats wrong with it yet but I was wondering if anyone has replaced an onboard Onan generator with a regular Honda generator...

Is it true that you have to turn off your fridge if your rig isn't parked level?

There was one guy on that other forum (link above) that said DC fridges don't cool the food well enough which is why he uses propane. Any thoughts on that?<br /><br />Since this will be my full time home I want as large a fridg/freezer as I can stuff in there. What about building my own DC...

Is it true that you have to turn off your fridge if your rig isn't parked level?

I'm going through an excellent thread about refrigeration (Thank gawd for the internet, eh?) here&nbsp;<a href="http://sprinter-source.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5723">http://sprinter-source.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5723</a> and everything Willy has been saying about Waeco being bullet proof...

Is it true that you have to turn off your fridge if your rig isn't parked level?

I wouldn't want to sleep at 30 degrees <img src="/images/boards/smilies/crazy.gif" alt="" align="absmiddle" border="0" />&nbsp;but what do you do if you want to park the vehicle somewhere on a hill <span style="text-decoration: underline;">for the day</span> because you're off doing something...

Is it true that you have to turn off your fridge if your rig isn't parked level?

So the key is to buy a "1 way" 12 volt DC fridge? Is it freon that makes your fridge more forgiving when parking at an angle?
