Do I even need to pay California taxes?

You maintained a CA residence for 7 1/2 months. Generally, that's going to make you a resident, which is logical.

    Plans to leave Florida,Budgeting,Calculations

Living in a vehicle is not as easy as living in a bigger van. It takes significant physical energy and brain power, way more than living in a house. Cooking, washing dishes, personal hygiene, going to the bathroom, even hanging out, is not as easy as doing these things in a house. Plus there are...

So I may have overdone it with the canned goods, but ...

That's one of the things I LOVE about being a vandweller. The stuff I bought to live in my car is exactly the stuff I need to get through an emergency. Jackery and Bluetti batteries, 2 - 100 watt portable solar panels, camp stove, camp heater, 2 - 7 inch fans with batteries, 2 Grayl water...

What are the unwritten rules about dogs in campsites?

Even when it's warranted, it creates problems with owners. Even people who were being bitten and kicked the dog to get it off them have had issues with the dog's owners. Some people are seriously narcissistic when it comes to their animals and no reason is a good reason to cause their animals...

Can Police Search Your RV Without a Warrant?

Yep. I was a paralegal for prosecutors and then for defense attorneys. On the streets, cops are prosecutor, judge and jury. Without video evidence of the entire encounter or other cops to stop them, they can almost do whatever they want. All a person can do is file a complaint, usually with the...

Skyrocketing fuel costs have van lifers concerned. Here are 5 reasons why this may be the BEST thing to happen to your van life dream.

The video is ok. The "talking to the wife" skit wasn't for me but others might like it. You mentioned some things I wouldn't have thought about, like grabbing a bike to get around, so it was worth watching. Glad you're going to keep making videos. Take care

adhesive hooks vs velcro for privacy curtains

Jeweler display pins would work great. I'm using them for my fairy lights and to hold up a bug screen for my sunroof that covers the entire ceiling.

He made some good points. He's cheesy but he's also a new YouTuber so I'm not expecting much. I would add that the higher the gas prices go, the less people will be on the road so if you still have the money to travel, you'll have way less competition for the normal touristy areas.

    Public Toilets

I have a Shewee that works great and I'm thinking about getting a p-style. Hovering is a thing in the very distant past.

Keeping warm in sub-freezing weather, using only a tiny amount of fuel for heat.

Definitely heat your vehicle anyway you want but propane heaters like the Mr. Buddy, Mr. Buddy Jr, Black Cat, etc work great in a car and are perfectly safe as long as you crack the windows. Even with the windows cracked, they will warm the vehicle just fine. I used my Black Cat in a 6 person...

Can Police Search Your RV Without a Warrant?

Yep. They can search if they "smell pot," even if no pot is found and they can search if their dog alerts and the dog is trained to alert on command. Plus you have to stay there until a K9 arrives. The courts have really weakened civil rights as far as law enforcement goes. Vigilante justice is...

    building a healthy meal plan

No study has ever shown a vegan diet to be healthier than a diet that includes some meat or animal products. Even the diet that reversed heart disease for some of the participants, not all of them, included dairy. Extreme diets just haven't proven themselves as far as lengthening life span so...

thinking about getting a new skill

My son likes it and a lot of community colleges are offering training for free through federal grants. His expenses, food, and lodging aren't high. He really doesn't have expenses or lodging because he sleeps in his truck or in his car when he's between loads and he has a refrigerator for food...

I think that was in the past. Doctors do study nutrition now.

    building a healthy meal plan

What I'm doing is the Mediterranean Diet. It's followed by the longest living, healthiest people and it's working great for me. Basically I eat fish, beans, rice, veggies, fruit, nuts, seeds, and olive oil. I limit eggs to 2 to 4 a week and have chicken every blue moon. I eat 2 or 3 times a day...

What are the unwritten rules about dogs in campsites?

Lol. Someone suggested it earlier so I thought it might definitely work for dogs. Who knows? It might work equally well for people. If I'm remembering right, which is always up for debate, someone in one of my groups said they kept one for security in their car, in case someone tried to break in...

What are the unwritten rules about dogs in campsites?

Same here. I've never ever been in a situation where I would need to shoot a dog or any other 4 legged animal and I don't ever see a time when I would get close. Pepper spray, plus I'm adding a bull horn, should take care of any wayward animals, from dogs to bears. People? That's a whole...

So I may have overdone it with the canned goods, but ...

Thanks for taking the time to write this. I don't follow politics, literally have no interest in it, but I'm sure it's great information for people who want to know what's going on. I'm more the 2 sentence explanation and "make sure you keep your gas topped off" kind of girl.

    Van or tent?

Only 1 or 2 people die but numerous people are attacked. Grizzly attacks are always something I worry about.
