    Tools and Weight

I can understand the tool addiction. Not only are they expensive, but I fear gettting rid of something, and then freaking needing it.

    Tools and Weight

Sounds like you've dabbled in quite a few trades over the years.

That seems like the rule of construction, six guys standing around in a circle watching one poor SOB dig a hole.

    Tools and Weight

For those with a lot of tools, how are you managing them during your travels and what is your setup like? I'm wondering because it seems like a decent tool selection precludes something like a van, because there just wouldn't be enough space and weight capacity to make a home out of the same...

    My 97 1500

Thank you for affirming my hope! I was really thinking on how well I could make welding travel and work for me. Are you a welder??

Need Help selecting a city for minivan life!

I would say the PNW would be a solid bet, like portland or seattle. But then you gotta worry about the meth heads out there. It sounds like you've lived there before and want something different. Maybe the northern parts of the midwest?

Weather - One of the Motivators

Ditto for here in Florida. I would already be living out of my truck while I finish school, but it is way too hot for that here.

    My 97 1500

Just an update for those interested, I'm still in Florida atm. I had finished my heavy equipment program, but I ran into a limitation of the GI Bill. I basically had a year left and if I didn't use it soon, I would lose it, so I decided to learn how to weld. So a welding I am! I'm looking at...

    Carnival Workers

Do circus folks use Ciazarn? From what I've been able to gather, there is some cross-over. I've been googling and all of this is really a fascinating look at Americana.

    Carnival Workers

What were your impressions of the culture? Also, I'd love any stories you have, places you've been that you liked, etc, if you want to share them.

    Carnival Workers

Thanks for the post. If you don't mind me asking, what job did you perform for the carnival you were on? I ask because I kind of get the idea that where people may have an assigned task or role/job, they also just kind of do what needs to be done. I don't know if that's true or not, so wouldn't...

    Carnival Workers

I think they start in Florida and travel up the east coast and end the year in the northern states, NY or maybe even further north. I'm really likely to take it, just for the experience, and I think it would also really further my skills as a mechanic. I haven't seen that much information on the...

    Carnival Workers

That's too bad, some lost soul out there combating their demons.

    Carnival Workers

Yeah I'd love to hear some of your stories. I got a job offer waiting for me once I finish school to wrench on their equipment. Its not what I imagined I would be doing, but it meets everything I want except I'm positive the way isn't the greatest. But it would let me travel, housing/parking...

How LONG can u live within a city of 16k? Far NW TN Dyersburg

I doubt anyone can give you a hard answer to your question, you may actually find that the community is MORE hospitable to you vandwelling as opposed to a large city. Also, if you drove past those hotels at night and looked for security, or the lack-of, that would tell you how likely you are to...
