    Fall goodies

I make an old fashioned pumpkin bread, too, using half whole wheat flour, with raisins and walnuts in it. Smells wonderful baking. Nothing quite like cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg.

    Fall goodies

I’m not a big fan of pumpkin pie, but I do love what I call Pumpkin Pudding. Mix up pumpkin pie filling, per the recipe on the Libby’s can, substituting brown sugar for all or part of the white and adding an extra egg. Bake in a casserole dish til done. Serve warm with a little whipped cream...

    What are you reading?

I just finished “Night of the Fox”, by Jack Higgins, and it was excellent, https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Night_of_the_Fox_(novel)

Good for you, and may you have many more years of living life your way.

    Been thinkin (Again)

Research the laws in your home state about declaring a person unable to make their own decisions, what is required for that, or if the research seems untenable drop into a senior center and ask for some information. I believe it is a pretty high bar, which may be small comfort if your son is...

    The Magic Sleeping Bag

Hmmm, interesting information on down. I have only ever had ones in a duvet cover, so they’re not slippery. They can also be washed and dried, which I did a couple of times a year, tho it’s true they hold moisture and take probably a full hour on high heat.

    The Magic Sleeping Bag

I used an all season down comforter for years, and loved it. When it was very cold, I first covered with a fleece blanket, then the down comforter, and when it was very, very cold, my first layer was head to toe fleece pj’s and socks. Warm as toast. ☺️

Best coffee maker for van life?

For me, first in the morning coffee is about getting caffeine in me, my later in the morning coffee is about the experience. I brew a cup, make an instant cappuccino, or, if it’s hot, a cold latte. I sit in my comfy chair, sip that and check emails, the news, etc., usually coffee in one hand...

Getting Ready To Sell My 2017 GMC 2500 Savana Cargo Van

Might consider a membership here, which might help with listing it on this site. I listed mine thru RVTrader, on facebook marketplace, as well as a brand specific site, got quite a few inquiries thru them and ultimately sold it to a buyer from RVTrader. Just fyi, I scoured mine within an inch...

    Paying those medical bills…

Everything should go first thru your insurance, they will notify you of what you owe. If you are on Medicare, all costs will be deeply discounted by providers before those bills ever get to you. I would talk with the business office of the involved hospitals, and see if there is funding...

Best coffee maker for van life?

The best coffee is made in a stovetop percolator, is true. It just seems a waste of propane to do this daily when one is on the road, but here’s no comparison, imo.

    Curry

If you’ve never eaten curry, might order it as takeout before investing in the spices and seasonings needed for those dishes. Just a thought. 🤔

Best coffee maker for van life?

I’m about to go to whole beans and grind my own, as the pre-ground has way too many fine particles in it to suit me. Even with a paper filter there is a lot of sediment.

Where to park, camp, shower etc

As to where to camp, park, shower, I would expect the boyfriend has some experience with this, but I suggest finding an app you are comfortable with to use as a resource. I relied heavily on the AllStays app, which has established campgrounds of all sorts, as well as rest areas, truck stops...

Dating and van life. How does one go about this?

I think there is a whole lot of hooking up going on among seniors, on the road and elsewhere. 🤔

Best coffee maker for van life?

Hmm, coffee syrup. 🤔 I have bought the cold brew concentrate a few times, also made my own tho it was a messy process. I have liked the OXO pour over single serve coffee maker, which makes a good cup and cleans up nicely...

Not necessarily a minefield, but you might be surprised.

Dating and van life. How does one go about this?

As a woman, here, I’m going to say a few things. Be friendly but not too much so. Keep your hands to yourself and maintain reasonable social distance unless specifically invited to do otherwise. Don’t presume that every woman traveling alone is interested in hookups or finds overt invitations...

    Camping coffee bags

I have used these in the past, and they are better than nothing, but not my first choice. If you like cream and sugar in your coffee, an inexpensive and really good cup is Trader Joe’s instant packets, which are a 10-pack for $1.99. Great for busy mornings, I have found, such as a drive day.
