I Want Buddy Heater Safety Tips

He might willingly give you a walk-thru, and that would be appropriate for a seller, but you should still have the system examined before using it, Carla, as propane leaks can kill you. Seriously.

Yes, LM, I agree with what others have said. My late husband would opine that you are “too smart by half”. Most of us are the half, just your average intellect. 😅

I Want Buddy Heater Safety Tips

A few dollars spent at a local RV repair place might give you this instruction, tho I understand the reluctance to take this plunge. On our first RV, a ‘77 Barth, which we put 40,000 miles on in 5 years, we never did learn to light the furnace nor use the stove. 🙄 But if you’re going to spend...

    Readying for the Cold

You are braver than me, bebewanna, and I admire your choice to deal with those temperature extremes. Stay warm. ☺️

    Favorite food for cold weather

Definitely soup, with homemade bread. Chicken with carrots, celery, onion and fresh parsley, with small egg dumplings is my favorite.

We have this endless, circular argument here, which I admit to being a part of. Many, if not most, of the chronically homeless are that way because that is what they want and how they want to live. Subtract from the numbers those who are nomads/houseless, also subtract those who have fallen...

Homelessness [split from Leadville and Salida Ranger Districts]

Just playing devils advocate here, theoretically any community that did not have a homeless shelter, and many do not, could be forced to tolerate encampments. On edit: the appealed ruling is about criminally PUNISHING the homeless, not about whether encampments can be prohibited or dismantled.

The Supreme Court is going to review restrictions on homeless encampments. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/01/12/supreme-court-homeless-encampments-restrictions/ “The Supreme Court said Friday it will consider whether state and local officials can punish homeless individuals for...

This is the crux of the issue, in a nutshell, and is going to be difficult if not impossible to resolve. It would seem reasonable, tho, that people not have an inalienable right to live wherever they want to live, in whatever manner they choose.

Kalispell is an example of the power of leaders, wherever and whenever, in whatever context is at hand. It sounds like the issues primarily revolved around tents and other temporary shelters springing up in public places. The leaders made it okay to target these people, and criminalized...

It sounds like city leaders led the charge, and sanctioned abuse and neglect of their homeless. “In Kalispell, city leaders approved an ordinance to punish motorists who give money or supplies to panhandlers. They shut off water and electricity at a city park where some were seeking refuge...

    Keep clean WITHOUT soap!!

I buy the large, thick ones at WalMart that are meant for those who are bedridden, when I need a good scrub but am conserving water. They don’t need to be rinsed, just throw them away.

This article in The Guardian this morning, about parking lots designated as safe space parking, complete with water, toilet facilities, no curfew, etc. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/jan/05/safe-overnight-parking-lot-sleep-in-car-rv-homelessness-housing-shelter

    Keep clean WITHOUT soap!!

I never feel reasonably clean without a warm water rinse. I bought a Simple Shower nozzle several years ago, and attaching it to a 1 1/2 liter bottle of water warmed in the sun, or heated on the stove, does the trick. Stand in my collapsible basin, use a large disposable wipe with a little...

Wow, that is quite the sleeping bag. Multi purpose, multi functional. ☺️

That’s a great idea. Or put them into pillow shams, if you have them.

Best space-saving blankets for very cold weather for naps in the driver's seat?

I don’t have an electric blanket in my little Class B, but have found that a fleece blanket over me, then an all season down comforter over that will keep me cozy even in serious cold. And, I have fleece tops and fleece leggings, also fleece booties. 😅 I’m a bit of a sight when it gets really...

Best space-saving blankets for very cold weather for naps in the driver's seat?

I am a huge fan of microfleece, which can be obtained very inexpensively and used in your bed, front seat, chair, wherever. There are also fleece snugglies with arm and leg openings, that would also double as a blanket.

Homelessness [split from Leadville and Salida Ranger Districts]

The “threat to self or others” is the standard for involuntary intervention nationwide, I believe, which is a fairly high bar and requires sanction by a judge for then time limited hospitalization. I have noticed in the past few years a more coordinated enforcement of time limits on public...
