    What do you sleep with?

I like a GI wool blend blanket on the mattress, sleep on top of it, with a light fleece blanket or opened sleeping bag, depending on temperature.

    bedding

I liked the air mattresses I used both for MC camping (single size) and the twin size I used in my minivan. Used the smaller one in low twenties F. in winter, never a problem. Doesn't get cold even on the ground if prepped correctly. Best sleep I ever had was on the Twin in my minivan. But...

    Fuel Can Recommendation

In my experience, all plastic gas cans offgas. It's the nature of the material. Steel cans with vent cap tight are much better. If I carry gas, I use the old round five gallon can I inherited from my late Dad. I used to use it for my motorcycle gas in my high school days in the early...

    covid-19 (new corona virus)

There is now a text message going viral (pun intended) that says Trump is going to institute a nationwide lockdown of all businesses and a forced two-week quarentine for all American citizens. This is false! Do a google search on "covid-19 quarentine", and you'll find an article by Factcheck.org...

    Navigation land and water?

I have several dedicated GPS gadgets. Used a little Magellan handheld during my motorcycle roadtrip days, on a self-buikt handlebar mount. It's map showed only highways and major roads/streets, but it kept me going the right direction and I could lay "bread crumbs" when on trails...

    What happened to respect anymore?

Hmmmm, that sucks. I have accidentally left marks on an offending vehicle who damaged mine. Once had some dumbA catch his bumper on my legally parked bike and nearly dumped it. Came out to go home, my bike is turned completely around, about two feet back from where I left it. Big scrape...

    Don't do this, either!

    Sometimes, it takes J B Weld! ;-)

    DIY AC?? Do they work?

Swamp coolers don't work well in a humid environment, like here in Florida.

Snakes! It's that time of year

In my youth, we had horses, so Dad built a tack room back of the big boathouse. Sister went out to feed her horse, and put her hand on a snake stretched out on the low tack room door. Heard her scream all tre way in the home, some distance away! I run out there, and it't just a gray ratsnake...

Camping at Walmart, is it abusing the courtesy?

Maybe Wally's manager should talk to anyone staying put more than two days, or who has all the camping toys outside, and insist one of them works a full shift each day as cashier or stocker, to "pay" for that "camping spot".

    Follow the leader?

I am usually "crew", helping with set up, take down, decorations, acquiring supplies, etc. This has occasionally morphed into "leader" when the initial leader decides it's too much work and quits. Occasionally, I will kick back and be a follower for a short time. So, it depends on the situation.

    Vantastic

I like that. Much more realistic and apropos to us than the show on another channel where a couple are shown shopping for a huge high dollar RV. I get tired of complaints of "too small a master bedroom", "lacks an outdoor kitchen or widescreen TV", "shower too tight", "lacks...

    The Verizon Debacle

Exactly my definition too. ANY restrictions means LIMITED. Period.

How to get rid of van smell?

First, need to identify what causes the smell. "Van smell" tells me nothing. Both my vans smell differently. Neither is objectionable.

    Stupid Question...

    A. The Buddy heaters, like all catalytic heaters, create very little CO. B. Keep a window or two cracked an inch or so for ventilation.

That second one is SO TRUE.

    Reunions

Several years, ago I drove my elderly Mom to her 60th high school reunion. Rented a new Avis car, had to tote along Mom's oxygen concentrator. We did the event, Mom was one of three there for the 60th. The event was also for the 50th. A lot more of them! We visited one of Mom's old family...

    Help with chooseing a GPS

I used to use a small Magellan eXplorist 200 B&W handheld, on a selfbuilt handlebar mount for my Dual Sport motorcycle. I liked the tracking function, so if I got lost offroad I could just "follow the breadcrumbs" back the way I came. It had maps only for highways and major local roads though...
