Homelessness [split from Leadville and Salida Ranger Districts]

This is an organization my daughter worked for in Dublin for a time. https://www.housingagency.ie/housing-information/housing-first She was in a street-level, first contact role.

    Partial Subfloor to Anchor Galley?

Latest thinking on this is to use a wall cabinet. They come in the right size (30"x30"x12") for the space and I should be able to add a 15" deep counter top fairly easily. I wonder whether using a pair of long runners (perhaps 2x4''s?) under the cabinet might be a decent option. The current...

    New van life camping...

Many of the Florida State Parks have those facilities. Another nice touch is a spot to tether your dog while in the restrooms. Some in Colorado have a building dedicated to laundry and dish washing. I've stayed in some in Arizona with nice dish washing sinks outside. A few of the parks in...

    Partial Subfloor to Anchor Galley?

Thank you for the drilling tip. Although I don't personally plan to be in the West this winter, your generous offer of one-on-one lessons will be a great gift to others.

    Partial Subfloor to Anchor Galley?

Very much along the lines of what I've been thinking and quite helpful. The sticky spot for me is no subfloor, but the wheels are starting to turn a bit.

    Partial Subfloor to Anchor Galley?

Bullfrog: When you say "brackets," I'm not sure what you mean. Without knowing what I plan to install at this point, I probably shouldn't ask you to elaborate, but would you? LOL. I am currently thinking along the lines of a 30" wide vanity-type cabinet, possibly a student desk, and have even...

    Power Supply

That's one reason I am wondering whether two small power stations would be a good option, leaving one in the van to run the fridge while recharging the other with a portable solar panel, in a public space, or (gasp!) a motel room. Tony: You mentioned that you want to avoid multiple power...

Time for a Replacement Van. Struggling...

So true! I have been known to put rocks in my own backpack, so to speak. Part of it is my desire/need to ensure my husband's comfort--a definite cost/benefit win for me. (We have considered just cutting his feet off, but I think he's more useful with them.) BTW, your "flat pack" post above...

    Partial Subfloor to Anchor Galley?

Thinking ahead a bit to our next modified conversion van, I want a simple galley this time around. I do not intend to gut the conversion, but don't know how to go about securing a base cabinet or similar to the van behind the driver's seat. One thought is to place a partial, floating subfloor...

Time for a Replacement Van. Struggling...

When we were still considering a Casita, we looked into putting the mattress in via the rear "escape" window.

Time for a Replacement Van. Struggling...

Good thinking outside of the box spring, but it doesn't apply in our case. The innerspring mattress does not require a box spring. We have it on a simple metal frame in the current van. (Of course, a mattress-in-a-box would go through a Casita door, and be expanded inside.) Two of the floor...

    24/7 Chat About Anything

Good find! I have the small stainless flat pack version, and love that it folds down to the size of a book. Sometimes I do wish I had gotten the larger one. It will fit two foil packs or one skillet or two ears of corn. What little I've used it, no chimney was needed--just a few Vaseline...

LOL! I was just wondering if anyone remembered hearing about such a thing!

Time for a Replacement Van. Struggling...

Okay. That settles it: I'll do both. We have all the storage space we really need in our 18' standard roof van. It's amazing, given what we carry. Rooftop is not an option with an Ontour. It's over 10' tall with the a/c. I seriously don't think the latest model could hold two chairs...

Time for a Replacement Van. Struggling...

I'm back (did you know I was gone?), having gone in lots of circles around the issue of our next travel vehicle. In the meantime, we've enjoyed some beautiful spots semi-close to our base and done a few more minor upgrades to the van. It's still very nice. My explorations have taken me deep...
