    Disgusting. Simply disgusting.

    Van Life & Air Conditioning

We are mainly in Texas, and need the inside temp to be 80 degrees or lower to sleep well. In the summer, that means an electrical hook up if we want to stay local. Our solution was a 5,000 BTU window unit mounted in the passenger side window when NOT driving. It actually worked very well...

Personally, I found the work very gratifying. My polling locations were very busy--"voting" around 1,500 citizens daily. We sometimes worked as much as 12 hours and there was occasionally some high drama (law enforcement required), but overall, the people were awesome! I had the pleasure of...

It's going to be okay, but you will have stories to tell! (If you like, we can swap 'em when it's over.) Stay calm and indulge in a liberal amount of self-care as you go. Pro tip: When a voter questions or objects to a "rule," refrain from acting as an authority or over-explaining. Smile...

    24 volt aircon

I can tell you a little about our experience with an Ecoflow Wave 3 portable unit, if you like. We have only run it on 110 volt shore power, but there are battery options.

    Entering a vanlife retirement.

Sounds like you have a strong interest in stamping out and eliminating redundancy.

    Very new

Thanks for the update. We've never tried to tow with the Prius, and I find the foamy concept intriguing. More solar? We have zero, because our power needs are either too great (a/c; cube heater) or nearly none.

We rarely do more than make a sandwich inside, but really like being able to access what we need from inside. Our dry food is stored in a closed container to discourage rodents. As many have suggested here in the past, making a rough cardboard mock-up can be very helpful. Nice work with...

    FIRES and Tires Oh My

Torque spec on our new van is a whopping 140 pounds, compared to 100 on the old van.

Thank you, this is helpful. (I wish we could stop our Attorney General from suing non-profits for providing food and shelter.) Doctors Without Borders still meets my criteria for awesomeness, BTW. The work they do is amazing!

Well hello from Central Coast California

We watched a couple with two kiddos repack their rooftop tent in a rain storm. It didn't look fun, but they managed.

Glad you're here, if only because you are enchoing our sentiments. After 15+ years camping as a couple in a van, I was given the opportunity to choose our next rig. After evaluating and re-evaluating our priorities, the choice was (drumroll)... another van! Hope you find some good ideas and...

    VanFan's Once and Future Vans

Lights: The Once Van had several arrays of "mood" lighting built in. It also had lots of ceiling lights a la airplane cabins. Since they were incandescent and ran off the starter battery, we rarely used them. Instead, I used mirror clips and existing wood trim screws to mount an LED light...

    building a healthy meal plan

A few days ago, I chopped off the heads of the first two batches of microgreens and added them to a sandwich. Yum! More on the way.

One thing I noticed a while back is that there were very few organizations serving immigrant populations that rated well on CharityNavigator (at least in Texas). I wonder if you have any insight into why that is, or how to vet service providers in that arena.
