    Wire sizes vs current capacity {split from Shops that install DC-DC charger}

    Lot bigger wire size than what? You have two things to consider 1) Wire's ability to carry current without overheating 2) Desired voltage drop If you have 40A current, then 8 gauge is sufficient. If you have a 20 ft wire run, 8 gauge, and 40A, then you'll have a 8.3% voltage drop and power...

    Wire sizes vs current capacity {split from Shops that install DC-DC charger}

    That says the same thing. 8 gauge is adequate for 40A.

    Wire sizes vs current capacity {split from Shops that install DC-DC charger}

    8 gauge pure copper is sufficient for 40A, but you may want to bump that up to 6 for reduced voltage drop if the run is towards the back of the van.

    Anyone on SSI/SSD and full time vandwelling?

    The person you replied to is probably gone, and their post was budget related, not really about SSI. What is the info you are trying to find?

    June 2024 Update on Quechan Indian Land camping

    That isn't cheap. Or a very nice place... definitely not this time of year. You want to be in the high mountains in summer... with the NW part of the country being preferred (by me) as the summers tend to be dry and sunny. At higher altitudes NM is nice in summer, but it is pretty rainy in July...

    Solar Power 128 LED Lights Motion Sensor Outdoor Security Lamp eBay item #224837504130

    If someone parked near me with one of those I'd be pissed! Security lights are a nuisance. My street used to be nice and dark; I could look up and see the stars. Now I have a couple people near me with blaring lights on all night, even when they aren't here! I think the motion sensing ones...

    Recommendations for solar install?

    If you don't want to learn all the ins/outs/gory details, just buy a powerstation that includes everything, and plug a panel into it. This allows you to park in the shade and have the panels in the sun also. If you need lots of power, or are living in town most of the time, then this might not...

    A large part of the BP obsession is a scam. They spend zero seconds trying to figure out the cause and just hand out drugs. High BP is a symptom of something right? In my case I had a pretty sudden increase, from ~135/80 to 150/95. I had zero of the "lifestyle" contributors, so drugs were the...

    What is YOUR favorite FAN in the VAN so you CAN stay cool OR other small cooling devices?

    You can have it on exhaust and control the flow by opening windows. Probably won't work for Lance though, as we sleeps during the day and works at night. Drawing in hot air doesn't work very well...

    I know it well! Great place... or at least it used to be. Most of my experience there was in the '80s. Sun is fine if you go high enough, so the temp peaks in the low 80s or so. A white roof on your rig will help too. Also I'd recommend getting some solar panels that you can locate remotely...

    Welcome, Peter! I'd definitely recommend camping in the high mountains in summer... like >8,000 ft is usually ideal. And it's best to avoid areas that have a monsoon influence (to avoid rain and mud and getting stuck), which means being far from the gulf. The NW is driest and sunniest in summer...

    Best on the road internet these days?

    It does... it's simply the most space efficient way to make a vehicle and it's also great offroad, since you can see where you are going! Trucks are getting more silly all the time with ridiculously tall and long hoods.
