Straight Talk Wireless: New Unlimited Phone Plan for $25, $200 for new phone after a year so pay $300 get $200 back! Verizon network.

S8+... about 8 years old now? Bought it used in 2020. I've only had Verizon on it, but it's unlocked. None of the other carriers have a problem with it, but Visible says no for some reason. If it isn't an arbitrary "no old phones" rule, then I really wonder what the reason could be.

I tried to switch to them, but they don't allow old phones for some reason. Seems like a scam to make money off phone sales.

Less than 30W typically, but yes, it's something. Blocking ads should help on data. And banking can be done through laptop, tablet, etc. It's really just that I've become accustomed to getting online when I'm home, but don't miss it when I can't get it... but these have been short 2-3 week...

    Throwing tennis balls at coyotes...

https://www.thebeaverton.com/2020/12/edmonton-coyotes-excited-to-finally-be-included-in-games-of-fetch/ "Scamp E. Coyote couldn’t believe his luck the first time a human threw him a tennis ball. “I looked around thinking it might have been meant for some basic canine, like a Max or Daisy, but...

I checked my use at home and it was 60GB for one month. Starlink charges $1/GB if you go over. I like camping in open areas even in summer, so I don't think trees will be an issue. Plus, I prefer to camp in places where cell coverage doesn't exist. Videos are the big data hog, so if you can...

How much water do you use for showers?- survey

I do my whole body, and hair... and bike clothes, with way less than a gallon (more like a quart) of weak vinegar solution whenever I get dirty, which is usually every other day. Maybe if I still had "nice hair" I'd never need shampoo... but I do use that before trips to town.

Kinda think Starlink Mini is the way to go... it allows access in the boonies where all cell coverage is poor, and costs about the same or less vs a decent hotspot plan. Does Redpocket have more than 20GB hotspot? That's all I see. I just contacted Verizon to see the cheapest hotspot plans I...

There is deprioritization of mnvos, but I haven't heard of restricting towers... and can't think of a good reason why they'd do that. I think if a Verizon plan can get a signal, then you'd have the same signal strength with Visible, but you may have poorer download speeds.

    Really bad yellow Jackets!

I'm sure you know this, but for those who may not... the bees in S AZ are nearly all "killer bees". They aren't really dangerous though unless they think their hive is being threatened... but if they decide you are a threat, it won't be fun... I think "rehoming wild bees on your land" would...

What do you do with all of your free time?

You described my ideal vagabond time perfectly! Being rather than doing. Such a gift to retreat from the "noise" of humanity and live in the real world.

    Forced Retirement

My first voluntary retirement was at age 30. I discovered that I was perfectly fine letting my living standard drop way below the poverty line, so I managed to stretch my savings for 11 years before I needed to work again. Only "odd" jobs though, no more career. My second retirement began 8...

Dating and van life. How does one go about this?

Wut?! That's just mean... Gotta tell my Tarantula Story. Was living in a little pickup with my SO and her dog. In the late fall in the 90s, a place next to the Gila River in eastern AZ looked good on the map, so we bounded in that direction in the dark and scouted a place to park near the...

    Travel/portable internet

Need more info! Budget, how much data you use, where will you park, how much do you care about always having it, etc. So far, no internet when parked has been working fine for me. If I get a signal I have 5GB on my phone, and in town I can get wifi.

    New to the life

That's exactly where I was 35 years ago. Then... the day I left and for several months after, I was in total ecstasy. Check out some builds online. Ponder what you really need, and err on the side of less. Things happen, you deal... and you learn.

    New to the life

Most people use cell, although it limits you to places where you can get a good signal. The cheapest unlimited hotspot data plan is still through Visible I think. So your phone receives the internet, and you turn on its "hotspot" setting, then you can connect to its signal with a laptop, tablet...

    New to the life

If that is a tourist trip, it's a strange time to go there... unless you dislike daylight, sunshine, and warmth? Regarding living in your rig, if you are "a little scared" of a big change in life, then.... that is completely normal! It isn't hard though, and hopefully you'll enjoy it and get in...
