So I may have overdone it with the canned goods, but ...

I think it would more likely be a cold war of sorts. The people up in N.D. are too reserved for outright hostility. It would likely play out in a more passive/aggressive manner. Shunning and words muttered under their breath. They do have Lutefisk, which would be the equivalent of going nuclear.

Lets hope Kansas doesn't get in a war with the Dakotas over control of Nebraska. My moms family is from North Dakota and they can be pretty stubborn.

A friend wrote a song about that called "Whiskey Goggles" Actually I imagine that's a whole sub-genre of country music.

I like the idea of "staples" and having a large supply that if needed could last a good amount of time. By "staples" I think of foods that will keep stable a long time, be able to make a large variety of meals out of the same basic ingredients, be economical in bulk, and have good nutritional...

I visited Minute Man silos at Hill Air Force Base in Utah around 1990. They even let me take a picture with my hand on the launch key. All male at that point, so I don't know about reproduction capabilities. But they did talk about compatibility, the launch sequence and its safeguards, and that...

Motorcycle to use as a "toad" with van

Yes, I've been seeing XT225s asking at least twice that lately. 16 - 22 years old at this point. And other more recent dual sports, but several years old nonetheless, for substantially more than they sold for new. Hoping if production and shipping of new models eventually overcomes the current...

Really saddened by recent reports from Ukraine. Inspired by their courage, but not looking good for them at the moment. I hope things turn around but have faint reason to expect they will. Damn...

Motorcycle to use as a "toad" with van

That's probably a decent price in the current market. I think the older 250s are around 9lbs heavier than the new 300s with more recent 250s +15lbs heavier. Thinking something that gets good mpg would be nice about now with gas prices expected to go even higher. Over $5 a gallon where I am in...

Motorcycle to use as a "toad" with van

I think the CRF450L is more similar to the KTM or Husqvarna dual sports including price and maintenance schedules. A blast for the right rider under the right conditions. I hear a lot of people like me who aren't as experienced with off-road riding will buy them and find they're a bit much for...

Motorcycle to use as a "toad" with van

I used a Ford Aerostar on forest service roads for many years. Might have had better clearance than the Odyssey, but probably by not too much. I think it was based on the frame and drivetrain of Ford Ranger trucks from late 80s through 90s. I'd deflate the tires under certain conditions like...

Motorcycle to use as a "toad" with van

Is that a carbureted motor or fuel injection? I once flew over Death Valley / Mt Whitney area in an Air Force KC-129 refueling plane while it was refueling smaller jets. Pretty spectacular view with the almost 16,000 foot altitude difference. Have also rode to Yosemite and back out over Tioga...

Motorcycle to use as a "toad" with van

Looks like a mondo-rig MondoBob. I'll bet that bike does well in the sand and mud. I have friends that had a band called the Beat Farmers that had a very amusing and offensive song titled "Mondo" I have it on some bootleg stuff but I'm not sure they ever got it past any record company execs to...

Motorcycle to use as a "toad" with van

I think that is the same bike my brother has, except his is a couple of years older. A 1999. I'm getting a trailer hitch installed tomorrow and will soon visit and try his hitch carrier, loading and unloading the KLR 250, and driving around a bit to see if it causes the van to handle any...

I like that one too, although everyone reports the suspension is weak. They are hard to find and the ones I've seen selling used have been asking more than the new price, I guess trying to cover their taxes and fees as well as purchase price. I also like the Kawasaki KLX300 in the camo pattern.

Still under consideration, at least Ebikes. The electric motorcycles I've seen are quite pricy and don't seem to be quite there yet in terms of charging and charge life, particularly with a van electric system. The big advantage I can see with some ebikes is I can carry them inside of my vehicle...

    Toyota Tacozilla

Nice having everything atop a capable vehicle as far as getting almost anywhere you want to go. I used to have a 4wd Nissan Truck with a Flip Pack camper on top of the bed. It folded out into a big tent-like structure with a cab over sleeping area with a mattress and the back area was tall...

    Abnorm-al DIY Awning and ShadeSail

Great thread! glad it got resurrected and came to my attention. Been wanting a sunshade but too cheap to go for the rv pre-fab ones. Some great tips here. Thanks.

    Carnival Workers

There was a guy who was usually high as a kite or passed out and sleeping in the bushes near where I lived. We went to the county fair and saw him operating one of the rides. I've never gone on another ride after seeing that. I don't think the standards for employment are all that rigorous. It...

Cool Trike! Plus one on wearing some protective gear, helmet and abrasion resistant suit, gloves, closed toe shoes. No shorts, short sleeves or flip flops. Have a friend approach you wielding an angle grinder and think about where you would be vulnerable and address it with how you dress. Make...
