    Solar Panels on the dash

I thought it might get too hot too, that is why I asked. Just thinking out loud and trying to avoid any issues.

    Solar Panels on the dash

I'm thinking about buying solar panels to power a 12V fridge while I am parked and hiking. A lot of people have them on the roof or set out panels when they are stopped. Can I put a solar panel on the dash in my locked vehicle, then face the vehicle into the sun?

I found this Bob Wells video.

I saw that too. He has been around awhile and I have found that he offers sound advice. He keeps it simple, which I like.

    Power Supply

Thanks everyone for for you input. I think I will buy the fridge first, as suggested, and build from there.

That is what I am concerned about as well. You can overspend and end up right where you started.

    Power Supply

When I travel I usually stay at paid sites every 3-4 days to get a nice shower and use shore power, especially when its cold so I can use my electric heater.

    Power Supply

I was watching youtube videos about setting them. I'm not mechanically inclined and plug and play would be nice. I would need a book for dummies when setting all the adjustments.

So you solar panels are keeping your battery charged continueously?

    I had heard that too.

    Power Supply

I saw those too. I guess I'm looking at something with more WHs. Trying to avoid having several smaller power stations. Not sure if I could go for two weeks with the batteries keeping everything running. My "idea" would be for me to fully charge the LifePO batteries before I go, having them...

    Power Supply

I'm not a full time van dweller, instead I take trips of 7-14 days. I am looking to buy a portable frig to replace my current Yeti ice chest. I currently only have a Jackery 240 which I know is not enough to power it 24/7. I am considering buying a Bluetti AC200P to provide the required power...

    Decisions, decisions

I started with a 2016 Ford Transit Connect but recently sold it to my son. I bought a 2019 Ford Transit hightop last August. I paid $18,000 for the first van and it served me well. It was a lemon law van, so it was cheap and only had 25,000 miles. It took me nearly 3 years to find a well...

My current van is called big foot because its a lot bigger than my first.

    Shore Power for Dummies

I would add crunched up paper towels in your fridge to obsorb moisture in the air. I do this with ice chests, water bottles, and such.....and it works great. Wiring is strange.......you can always use too large of wire and be fine, but never use to small. Generally speaking......15 amp wire...

    Advice needed

I would say that he is aware of this problem and I would let him deal with it. If Canada lets him in, great. If not, he knew it could be a problem. Since you are taking different vehicles it should not impact you if he is detained along the way.

    Miles per year?

    I average 5-10,000 per year.
