    Stainless steel bowl sink

I have the same problem I don’t worry about it. It is a very small amount of water that can easily be wiped with a dish cloth when I want it gone. I have been using it like this for over ten years. There is a down side to using a bowl for a sink, it is a bit too small, it does work however I...

Where do you shower (when you don't have a shower in your van)?

I don’t understand why you put controversial next to river or lake. I have a couple of square kitty litter buckets that I heat up in the sun and use a kitchen pot, dump the water over me soap up, rinse. I usually warm water in sun for several hours. If no sun I warm water on stove. If near a...

4 cyl a 2 litre a 2.4 or 3 litr Toyota gas or deisel will outrun any Chevy 8 cyl in the long run get better gas mileage and cost less to maintain. Using foam mats under plywood flooring

Personally I would drill and screw into the metal floor, or bolt it down through the floor, especially if you don’t intend having a very solid bulkhead. I would throw the mat out insulate with foam board, plywood on that no battens. I don’t have the floor bolted or screwed down, the bed...

You don't really need to wash your hair at all.

I hardly ever use soap in my hair, I wash it under a shower, or in a bath or stream, bucket etc ..like you would if you were to shampoo, minus the shampoo. I do use soap or shampoo a couple times a month. I read somewhere that soap takes all the natural oils out. I started loosing my hair thirty...

Living Cheaply in Other Countries [split] Article w/ Bob Wells in today's Guardian

One issue, in America, around developing a good safety net is that a large number of Americans think it is socialism which in their minds equates to communism which in their minds equates to being forced to break stones with a small pick axe in a quarry all day under the hot sun without their...

Speaking of passenger door, I was wondering if anyone here has removed one on their kurbmaster, mine gets a bit sticky on the last few inches when closing, I would like to remove it to have look at it, but the screws at the bottom are jammed so tight I haven’t been able to get them off, I think...

The State of the World, and Life's Real Questions

The fact that hundreds of thousand people of different backgrounds who come up with a list of moral standards bring them into law then enforce them with no morality, impose them for hundreds of years with no mercy on their neighbours, friends and family shielded by a cross, flag or other...

The State of the World, and Life's Real Questions

I think this whole thread is a discussion on how you cope when one does not accept that their are not always answers to our endless questions. The need to put things in handy little boxes so are minds rest at ease is the reason we end up in cults, religions, philosophies, life styles. Wether it is...

The State of the World, and Life's Real Questions

Who cares I got a gig on Monday morning that I should be practising for, a door to build for a shed, oil needs changing on my van and what’s for lunch. The only thing I did was wrong, was stayed in the wilderness way too long.

New idea for using a motorcycle/trailer.

Motorbikes are more expensive to own then a small van and not as practical or as comfortable. Hard to beleive. I have ridden motorbikes for decades, travelled across North America several times been up to Alaska, ridden in Asia across parts of Europe, done most of Australia and New Zealand. I...

Propane stove - looking for recommendations

I think most of the campstoves I have looked at are kinda Chinesy a bit cheap down and dirty junkie, If I was looking for a new stove I would have a look in marine supply stores. A bit pricey but if you buy a good one you will never need another and it will hold it’s value.

Is vanliving easier in certain places?

I think you have to recheck your research sources on sleeping in vehicles in Canada, I think you will find it is legal in most provinces if not all. Where you sleep is sometimes an issue but if you are not breaking any parking laws I think you are fine.
