Yes, all will get turned off at night. Sorry you lost a friend. Caution is best.

    Tragic Propane Heater Accident

Olympians are great. If I had a larger vehicle that's the route I would go.

    smoke and co2 detectors

Did you recently refer us to an RV CO/LP combo monitor? Is the lowest point good for that unit? Any suggestions re the smoke detector issue I mentioned earlier? Prefer not to drill into minivan, don't know where elec lines may be located, HDR. Would double sided tape keep it stable and...

    smoke and co2 detectors

That would fit in the rear cubby. I've got one that's got lots of air flow. Thx for the idea.

    smoke and co2 detectors

Propped to vertical, thanks. If anyone knows if this works on the combo CO/LP let me know that. I guess if you're going to be extra careful that's the one to go for. Still want to know re the smoke detector issue: can it be propped or can I adhere that with double sided tape?

    Tragic Propane Heater Accident

Right, it's only during waking hours that I would use propane. But it's those leaking during the night things that concern me.

    smoke and co2 detectors

I missed RTR 2018 due to family issues. Wanted to be there to meet & learn. I read detectors are needed for smoke & CO/LP, as well as fire extinguisher. Best to use RV quality. Seems both detectors have to be mounted.  I didn't want to drill holes into my minivan & don't know where it's safe...

    Tragic Propane Heater Accident

I put rain guards on  my front windows for ventilation when I get on the road and use propane inside minivan during inclement weather. I have heard some say they need to be rolled down an entire inch, other long term nomads have said 1/4 inch.  Seems like an inch of cold air on both front...

how to make an insulated curtain?

Thanks, John. I have super strong rare earth magnets. Guess I'll invest in dark out curtains and see if that approach works.

how to make an insulated curtain?

Yes, I have seen those. Was hoping to find a way to hang them between front seats and back bed area without making alterations to my minivan. The overhead side handles are set too far back to run them across there. I tried a spring rod in the right location but the walls are angled so it did not...

    CO Detectors

Thx, Itripper. Just had one of those installed both levels of my house, 10 yr model.

    HUGE Kidde Fire Extinguisher RECALL

Hmmm, hope it arrives soon, tx. I recently wrangled with a company re my 5 yr old bed. Whole unit was 2k, and due to back injury that had to be spent. But it was defective, and worse than an air mattress for my back. Finally mustered the energy to tackle a company mgr. Convinced her via words...

    CO Detectors

Thanks, Mike, that looks like a good one. I like the idea that of an on/off switch, as I'm just getting my feet wet in traveling to RTR this year. Am not planning to be a full timer, unless national economics force me out of my 200 yr old adobe and onto the road. Then my minivan would be my new...

    CO Detectors

Good reminder here to get RV quality CO monitor due to the rough ride in vehicle. Will it work right if I don't mount it to the wall??????? Since the minivan has little height can I get a reliable RV smoke detector/CO monitor? Every inch of space is an issue. The less gadgets the better. But...

    HUGE Kidde Fire Extinguisher RECALL

I was online researching which fire extinguisher would be best for my minivan. Saw the Kidde recall so won't buy that brand. Also saw HDR's comment re don't buy the ones with plastic handles. Then there was mention of checking the home fire extinguishers. Wasn't even thinking about that. Must...

Heating when you can't afford a Mr. Buddy

Glad to see Popular Science got on board. Shirley MacLaine used that technique on a journey to some freezing ars- land and it worked. I'm bringing my hot water bottle, cast iron pan, and volcanic rocks just in case I don't have the technique down.

    Mylar tarps for insulation

:P Bob's got plenty of magical powers. Hoping some of them will rub off at the Q!

how to make an insulated curtain?

Thanks! I've got spray adhesive, guess I could use that rather than a staple gun. I'm allergic to chemicals so would have to do it far enough in advance to let fumes dissipate.

    Mylar tarps for insulation

Somewhere a few weeks back I asked re using Mylar tarps for insulation, hanging over the window walls of my minivan. Can't find that post now but was surprised I got no response. (I seem to lack practical knowledge about most everything. Usually someone jumps in to point that out!) Just watched...

how to make an insulated curtain?

Hey, Gypsy P, what color is the thinner cheaper moving blanket at HD? Could it be used for the fabric for the window covers? If not, what fabric did you use? I want something black I can just cut, now sew, for quick action, little time left to prepare. Thanks for your info! kd
