    Shelter from Coroplast

Cool. I'm not quite sure what it's advantages are over a tent but I like to know about options. Thanks for posting. PS-I like your signature phrase. I used to have a tshirt that said that. A friend got it for me because she said the statement fit me to a T :)

    Walking away from your Debt

As many have stated before me there is little recourse to completely walk away from your student loans. Here are some nonprofit organizations that you can research some options for your student loans: National Consumer Law Center American Student Assistance or look for a nonprofit debt...

Matt & Janet, First off - Welcome. Wow those are some detailed links. You have put in a lot of planning. I love the maps and how it's shows months in general areas. Good spreadsheet also. Rehoming your elderly cats can be difficult. You might try going to a few independant living places...

    the kelly kettle

X2 - Steamjam1 or anyone. Looking for discussion on what changes you made and why. YT has a ton of vids I know but I haven't seen much of sequential iterations with notes on what changes were being made to compensate for xyz issues/conditions.

Thinking of adding a ***gigaton*** of Insulation... is it worthwhile?

Homedepot.com lists a 10 pack of 4' x 8' white coroplast at $110 shipped free to local store, so $11 a sheet. Amazon's great and so is home delivery but for 7x more $ per sheet, I'll go pick it up at the store 5 miles down the road :)

Has anyone tried a popcan heater for van?

I think the OP might be referring to a passive solar heater using soda cans painted black that are placed behind glass and vented on top and bottom. Bottom for incoming cool air, top for outgoing warm air. But I could be wrong. It wouldn't be the 1st time :) I do find the discussion of alcohol...

Spray foam in my step van - will it break apart?

That is the best, most concise, easy to understand explanation I have read yet. Maybe I needed to read all the other stuff to really understand your explanation, but yours was the one that really cemented it for me. Awesome-Thank You!

    $20k single $30k couple

@offroad re: Amy Dacyczan I borrowed the combined version of the 3 Tightwad Gazette books so many times from the library I finally bought my own copy. I figured if I used a book that much as a reference then I should just buy it (used of course :)) I like the ideas in her newsletters but what I...

    A little different, I reckon.

Welcome! Sounds like you'll be homesteading. That is very cool. It's what I really wanted to do many years ago but I let myself get distracted by shiny things. I can't answer any power questions for you as i'm very much in the learning and asking question stage myself. So I'll glean some info...

FOR WOMEN ONLY: Great Confidence Booster for the Solo Lady Traveler :)

Thanks for the link to the article. Your list of negative comments made me chuckle. I've traveled alone most of my life, even when I was attached with a SO. I even traveled alone as a 13 year old on an international flight that I needed to change planes and also get through customs by myself...

    New from New Mexico!

Hi and welcome! Traveling is so fun, isn't it? I would love to hear more about your adventures while traveling with your 4 furbabies! I love this site but I wish the 'Traveling with Pets' section was more robust. I would especially like to hear about experiences with cats as thats what I have-2...

For those in Cargo Vans... what's your preferred bed height?

Thanks for this. As this is my first build. I have a conversion van and use that passenger side window a lot. Didn't think about how my visibility would be compromised by building the bed higher up as I was planning. Now it seems like a no brainer. Now I know I need to double check some things.

    Got a van today

Congratulations! Wow that was fast. I guess when you make a decision it gets put into action quickly. How does it feel? I can't wait to see pics of the inside. Looking forward to before and after pics once you start to make changes. Enjoy! Just saw the add on about your nephew. I just...

For those in Cargo Vans... what's your preferred bed height?

With shadows and darkness and John Q Public being preoccupied with their own problems, very few if anybody will notice a passenger seat missing. It may enter their mind that something is different but they'll be onto another line of thought before it occurs to them what it is. I understand...
