Mike the Mechanic, who has helped SOOOO many people needs help!!!

Mike, if you see this, I just read this thread - haven't been active here for a while and just didn't see it until now. I am very glad to hear you are working your way back to good health. You are one of my favorite people from RTR and I know you have a lot of love and respect from others...

    Coleman 12v cooler extension cord

This 5645-710 Coleman cooler/fridge uses about 4 amps continuously, so is not recommended for full-time use off-grid. It is not near as efficient as 12v compressor fridges that will cycle on and off and also can get colder. I plugged into my van's ciggie outlet while driving and it worked...

A Hot Tub for the next RTR~

Let's see... 100 RTR'ers would each need to contribute about 3 gallons of water to fill that... Then of course we'd all want to be first in and maybe first out...

    newcomer

Welcome. I attended this group's annual RTR (Rubber Tramp Rendezvous) near Quartzsite in January and then a wintering spot for many at nearby Ehrenberg. If you are able to get to either, you will get a good introduction to this vandwelling lifestyle from a lot of good people! Are you thinking...

    CO Detectors

Mine is a Kidde combination CO/smoke detector mounted on the edge of the front cab shelf, about 4' high and 6' away from my Coleman white gas stove, and more or less from my Mr. Buddy heater depending on where I set it.  The instructions suggested not placing the detector too close to the...

    Masterplumber's cargo trailer conversion

Ok, I'm officially jealous now. No, maybe not. It's more like I'm deeply contented just looking at all this goodness.

    Theadyn's van and trip log

Congratulations, Theadyn!!!! You have done a nice job getting the essentials and the comforts together there and it looks great besides! Glad you are securing the desk. I screwed my plastic drawers to my walls using big washers between the plastic and the screw heads to keep them from ripping...

what should I learn about repairs and maintenance?

I took a chance and bought a repair manual on ebay for my '02 Ford E-350. I paid $11.99 and what I got was a tiny 3" cd. I fired it up and what I found was the complete illustrated and step-by-step Ford workshop manual for my van - 5,215 pages worth. Listed by 'mitea01' if anyone is interested.

    Health Insurance

Don't know if this info is well-known, so even though I posted it elsewhere, it might be pertinent here as it relates to travelers: I found this website that lists the states that offer multi-state health plans and the provider names.  What I found interesting was in the note section at the...

    My sincere apologies

Oh no! I think most of us know that agonizing sinking feeling in the area of the heart when computers eat stuff. It's a horrible feeling! So I hope YOU are ok. Lists can always be recreated.
