Bury a tire to get out

Yeah, lots of fail videos on youtube where folks try to winch or extract a vehicle. One I remember seeing was an entire front bumper flying off a stuck vehicle and decking a bystander. Hopefully the guy wasn't killed; I know it hurt just to watch.

Solved hanging curtains behind seats in my van!

Ah... The wonders of duct tape never cease to amaze!  Ingenious use of para-cord, I might have to borrow that idea...   Funny thing, seeing those pointed curtain hangers made my fingers cringe, having hung drapes before I know my fingers and those little pointy things don't always get along...

    Fuel system issue....

Yeah, I'm with HDR and Bullfrog, you shouldn't need to install sparkplugs just to diagnose a no-start.  Perhaps if needed for maintenance, but I'd suggest to diagnose the problem first.  Do you know if the engine ran when it was parked or was the van parked because it didn't run back then?  The...

^^ Oh that's too wild! But I could see it happening... I guess there must be one in every neighborhood.

    Reality Check !

Sounds like you have a solid vision of what might work for you... I think we all kinda do the same thing, start in one direction, find out it's not for us, then we move in a different direction. I don't see it so much as a mistake, just a necessary part of the process to understand exactly...

Bury a tire to get out

....Can sometimes use floor mats or a long piece of carpet depending on soil and moisture. They make plastic tread plates specifically for off-roaders too. Technique is to rock it back and forth D to R then gas it out. Also, a snatch strap works really good, almost like a big rubber band. A...

**** diet while on the road/shelf stable ideas

Naturally occurring coconut oil has four fat molecules C6, C8, C10, and C12, based on the number of carbon molecules.  Pure C8 is most ideal and that's what I use.  Coconut oils that solidify at room temperature have C12 fats which are harder to digest and may cause stomach upset.  C6...

**** diet while on the road/shelf stable ideas

I totally agree, watch out for hidden sugars.  We shop various brands of sauces and are very selective based on total carbs and sugars...  Also should mention to watch out with condiments; just try to find a mayonnaise that doesn't have high-fructose-corn-syrup or some other form of sugar.  They...

**** diet while on the road/shelf stable ideas

With no refrigeration 'shelf stable' items, protein will not be an issue; there are lots of canned proteins.  The main problem is getting enough fat.  For ready made foods, I'd look toward fish packed in olive oil, whole cans of olives, marinated artichoke hearts in olive oil, dry style sausages...

**** diet while on the road/shelf stable ideas

Can anyone recommend a brand of stevia? I use Truvia which is a Stevia/Erythritol blend (I buy it at Costco).  Erythritol is a sugar alcohol, zero carbs, but some people may get stomach upset.  Straight Stevia can go from sweet to a bitter character with too much.  A little goes a long way.  If...

Yeah, a 2017 rehash of 1950's info offered without analysis or proof...  But this is representative of the quality of information out there.  If it's published on the internet it must be true...Right?   I do tend to place a bit more value on more current articles, especially when they...

    1988 G30 Cube Van, A blank canvas.

Diesel has an open intake (no air throttle); engine speed is handled with fuel.  A throttle body might be hard to adapt to the top of the engine, plus you still have to run a cable to it.  So I started considering, it might also be hard to adapt a TPS right at the pump itself.  Thinking a little...

    **** Lifestyle

^^ Yeah, it's quite humorous how he worded that, kinda seems to contradict himself.  But notice the blatant bias in this statement "...it can be heavy on red meat and other fatty, processed, and salty foods that are notoriously unhealthy."   He's openly characterizing ketosis as a 'popular diet'...

OK Now to plan C Ford Cutaway van

I don't see tremendous oil on those outside cylinders so much as a fluffy black, so I'm thinking maybe a fuel mix or incomplete combustion.  Deposits on the underside tulip of the valves,  baked carbon under that surface soot, and carbon on piston tops would tell more of the story for those...

    **** Lifestyle

...LCHF... HF.... VLC (very low carb) or ZC (zero carb)... **** is also just short for saying ketosis... All describe essentially the same thing... eat less carbs, more fat, moderate protein.  I've also heard it told as being 'like Atkins but with more fat' or 'fat adapted diet.'   I try not to...

    1988 G30 Cube Van, A blank canvas.

Any chance you can share where you got the info on the 4l80e conversion.  I'd really like to read up on that.  TPS mainly need to be zero'd at idle.  Fortunately, they're a 90º sweep to full throttle so I'm thinking maybe a tin mount from an intake manifold bolt with a 1:1 connection directly...
