Talk with Sean Nichols, Co-founder, Battle Born Batteries

Actually, I found the link that John61CT left in another thread to Marine How To.  Good article. It's long so search for "Drop-In Pit Falls:" on the page.  I'd be interested to know if Battle Born has addressed these issues. Apparently, some of the cheap Chinese drop-ins have not.

Talk with Sean Nichols, Co-founder, Battle Born Batteries

Can you elaborate a little here?  I'd like to know.  They do offer a 10 year warranty, which tells me they want these batteries to last a long time.  Perhaps the drop-in concept is meant to trade some longevity for easier implementation by non-experts?  I don't know.  I'm asking.

Would you be interested in participating and recommending some others to participate in a webinar with Sean?  Assuming I could arrange it ... I think it would be really informative. Jim

Talk with Sean Nichols, Co-founder, Battle Born Batteries

I'm in the process of designing/building my van, and the other day, I talked with Sean Nichols, Co-founder of Battle Born Batteries for about an hour.  I recorded the conversation at:  Talking with Sean Nichols, Co-founder, Battle Born Batteries Please note I have no affiliation whatsoever with...

    "universal" third party van windows

Does it suck in exhaust even when you're driving?

    "universal" third party van windows

That was kind of my question because I couldn't find any screen-type operable windows for a Promaster City, but a few places have these "universal" windows.  I was wondering how "universal" they are or what that means.  Anyway, I'll talk to them and see what might be compatible.

    "universal" third party van windows

Good point. Do you happen to know if you can drive with a max-air vent partly open?  I'm also thinking of some kind of floor vent just behind the console if I can make it work.  Not sure what to get though.

    "universal" third party van windows

Thanks.  I don't have the van yet, so this looks like something that should wait til then.  I like the idea of being able to see the window before I buy.   I'm now thinking about how I would measure the curvature.

    Good points, all.  Thanks!

    "universal" third party van windows

So I was riding in the back of my sister's Sprinter the other day, with no windows open.  Even with the front windows open, I was surprised how dead the air was back there. In my impending Promaster City build, I decided to look for an operable window to install in the back door.  The closest I...

Effect of antenna height on reception

Looks good.  Do you put it up and take it down when you set up, tear down camp?  I can't imagine you leave it up on the road.   :-/

Effect of antenna height on reception

I'm interested in cell reception.  I've seen two types of setups to consider - a WeBoost and a MOFI4500-4GXeLTE-SIM4 as favored by Will Prowse, but I don't know much about either.

Effect of antenna height on reception

I'm thinking about whether to roof-mount or pole-mount an antenna, and I'm wondering about the effect of antenna height on reception. How high should you go?  Is it more important for a directional antenna than an omni antenna? Also, do they work better the more distant they are from the metal...

Wondering the advantages/disadvantages of buying two fridges instead of one dual-zone fridge .... Thoughts? Jim

    Thin cocoon or thick patchwork?

Hey Long-time Van Dwellers, This is a question meant to draw out your intuition about where you feel the most heat loss or gain.  When you answer, try to take on the mindset of someone (like me) building a small cargo van, where every cubic inch is a big deal. Choose either 1 or 2.  Then say...

Can you buy 1/4" foam insulation sheets?

Good points.  I'll ding my local store to find out when they're going to get it in. Thanks!

Can you buy 1/4" foam insulation sheets?

They don't sell this within 100 miles of me.  Guess it's not too popular.  I wonder what might be a good substitute.

Can you buy 1/4" foam insulation sheets?

I just looked at Home Depot and didn't see anything like this, but I see 1/4" alleys on my van floor and would like to fill them in with strips.  I'm not crazy about the idea of slicing 1/2" foam in half. What would you recommend? Thanks, Jim

    USB continuous draw?

I like that idea.  Not being a longtime user of 12 v systems,  how many ciggie type sockets would you include in a build?  Would most of the stuff I buy for 12 v need a ciggie socket?  I have noticed these little USB fans.  Is there much else that uses USB other than phone/tablet charging?  ...
