    Dometic fridge voltage polarity question

Problem is solved. Fridge is working. There was nothing wrong with the fridge or the circuit.  I had assembled the bed, which is over the fuse box.  I assumed that because I saw 12.59 volts at the plug that it was fused all the way to the battery.  Not so.  The short answer is that there was no...

    Dometic fridge voltage polarity question

Looking at the photo attached to the first post in this thread, you can see there is 12 volts at the plug prong.  That means no fuse was blown upstream.  There is no center pin.

    Dometic fridge voltage polarity question

I'm not quite sure what you mean, but yes, the next step is to further investigate the plug and contacts thoroughly.  My voltmeter probes had no difficulty with the plug but I'll look more closely now at both the male and female plug parts.

    Dometic fridge voltage polarity question

The original configuration was #12 from the battery for about 5 feet to the other side of the van, then spliced into the original cord, shortened to about 2 feet to the fridge.  This configuration worked fine.  Then I decided I wanted to swivel the fridge out from time to time and lengthened the...

    Dometic fridge voltage polarity question

This is an interesting possibility.  Maybe the longer cord created too large a voltage drop.  But it isn't really that long, and it seems like SOMETHING should happen when I press the on button.  See the post above about the polarity problem.  Think I solved that one. Jim

    Dometic fridge voltage polarity question

This is a Model CFX65DZ  Dometic fridge. I have solved the polarity problem.   I found the original cig lighter plug that I cut.  See the attached photo of a continuity test between the outer prongs (not the center stab) and the ribbed conductor.  This confirms that the rib corresponds to...

    Dometic fridge voltage polarity question

Ok, so now I'm not sure what to do.  Guess I need to speak with someone at Dometic.  If I swap it to test, do I do further damage? Recall the original problem is that when I press the power button, nothing happens though I clearly have voltage all the way to the fridge using the polarity I...

    Dometic fridge voltage polarity question

Yup, the left side is ribbed and hence should be positive.  I've got it reversed.  I'll reverse it in the morning and let you know if it behaves. Thanks!

    Dometic fridge voltage polarity question

I cut my Dometic DC cord to hard wire it to my 12v bus.  I thought I was being careful, but now I'm wondering if switched the wires and got the polarity wrong.  The attached photo shows the voltage I have at the fridge plug.  When I plug it in, I get no DC power to the fridge.  It works fine on...

    Verizon VS Visible

I wonder how the Verizon folks were faring in the debate hotel. I can't imagine a worse environment for piling up traffic in one location.

500 Watt Solar for small Van

You might take a look at my build.  I have a ProMaster City - about the same size as your NV-200.  Here is a link to a video I shot about the roof rack system.  I have 330 W and 200 AH of lithium batteries.  It's plenty, done with one panel that I can tilt and remove if needed. Jim

    Verizon VS Visible

So I've been reading all the Visible threads, and I'm intrigued. I have an iphone SE, which I can replace with a new iphone from Visible with a $200 discount. Suppose I buy two lines, put my current phone number on the new iphone and get a new number for my old SE iphone to use as a hot spot...

ProMaster City roof rack, pv, solar water, fan

I actually hate those MC4 pv connectors and would change them in a heartbeat for something easier to work with and more secure.  Can you be a little more specific?  Are these the connectors you're talking about? https://powerwerx.com/anderson-powerpole-connectors-15amp-unassembled It's not...

Connecting a classic two burner Coleman to an already regulated line

Thanks!  That's what I was looking for - someone who had connected a classic Coleman directly to an already regulated line and had no trouble.

Connecting a classic two burner Coleman to an already regulated line

Good idea.  I just saw one of these at Home Depot.  I worry about these leaking when open part way.  I have a similar valve on a water line that is fine when full open or full closed, but it leaks when part way open.

Connecting a classic two burner Coleman to an already regulated line

Yikes! $64 for this little gadget.  Cheaper to go to Amazon and search for Anderson Metals Brass Pipe Fitting, Barstock Street Tee, 1/4" Female Pipe x 1/4" Male Pipe x 1/4" Female Pipe and Mr. Heater 1/4 Male Pipe Thread x 1"-20 Male Throwaway Cylinder Thread Fitting for a total of about $20...

Connecting a classic two burner Coleman to an already regulated line

Has anyone tried to connect a classic two burner Coleman to an already regulated line?  I think the regulator that comes with the stove drops the pressure from a 20 lb propane tank (or 1 lb bottle) pressure down to stove pressure,  but if there is already a regulator connected to the tank for...

    Subaru roof tent

Here's the image - didn't come across using my smartphone. Hope you realize I'm being facetious.  Imagine $4000 for a tent! (Hmmm ... image not attaching from my laptop either.  Can we not do this anymore?)
