If you check in the 4x4 forums there is a popular pump that Checker Auto Parts (sometimes called O'Reilly) stocks that is on par with the $200-300 setups but only $50 from them that is supposedly pretty stellar. Just mentioning. I know you have to wait and see when they are around...

I have an E-150 and an E-350 and the "ultimate tire size" for boogieing while having decent mileage is 235 85 R 16 (or similar). They are all E-rated, narrow, and just under 32" in diameter. Hope it helps.
