    Any SUV dwellers?

I slept in my Nissan Rogue from Key West to New Orleans for a couple of weeks. I used just a basic coleman camping cot for sleeping (and found it to be actually pretty comfortable!). For full-timing it, you'd probably want to make use of rooftop cargo / trailer hitch cargo mount. I think it's...

    Harvest Hosts

You pay an annual fee and in return, some wineries, farms, museums, etc let you camp for a night or so - (maybe longer if you they agree to it).  Anyone do this? Is it worth the $ ?

How To Keep Pets Safe & Cool OTR

I worry about my dogs just driving the to the park down the street in my SUV. In a van, I wonder how I'd build into safety for them. My thought is that I'd make the bed pretty big (so I can sleep with them), but also so I could maybe hook them to the back doors while they're on the bed so they...

What to do FIRST: insulation, electrical, etc

Heavy duty anchoring points, thank you for reminding me that's something I'd want to do! Or for instance, I'd like to hang super heavy duty hooks inside, possibly for things like hanging in hammocks - so good to know you'd want to get those into the frame before laying down the other stuff on top

Florida - van build out help

Thank you! I will check your videos out. I feel like my main obstacles right now are a bit mundane, like I don't own a jigsaw for the vent fan, or a ladder (so many of the videos on youtube show the people already on their roof, but i feel like getting up there must be a feat in and of itself!)...

What to do FIRST: insulation, electrical, etc

Hi all, Assuming I will get a Ford Transit, but haven't bought yet - could be Promaster or something in the end I have watched a bunch of videos so far, but still need to watch a million more. What makes the most sense in terms of order? i.e., I know I want the following things: Vent Fan...

Florida - van build out help

There's a place called Custom Coach Creations over in Deland that seems to have semi-reasonable prices and can help with a DIY conversion if there's particular stuff you don't feel comfortable with. Still on the lookout in general. I am starting the van build in just a couple of months

    Black Friday Deals

Setting up a thread where we can share deals that could be beneficial or desirable from a Van Dweller/Nomad perspective. I will start: The Garmin InReach units (which have SOS functionality, etc.) are $75-$100 off right now at REI, Amazon, and possibly other outlets. Also, I am wondering if...

    baby steps phase

Thank you all for the advice! I totally get the idea of the electricity going out - i was thinking of one of those temperature monitors that can send alerts to your smart phone if it hits a certain threshold. I would never be too far from them, but in all practicality, there will be times when i...

Florida - van build out help

Thank you both. I have been devouring youtube videos and Id certainly like to be armed with knowledge of what i want, need, and/or could do myself - and I do believe a lot of it is not necessarily super hard, but at the same time - We learn from our mistakes, so experience does have value...

    baby steps phase

Hi, im still in a 40 hr cubicle job - just saving money til Spring - at that point, id like to get a transit van and do campgrounds for a year or two.  Two questions: i have dogs and their safety is priorty, particularly in heat. I plan on installing a vent fan, but my question has to do with a...
