    Van Hunt!

Why not just buy a basic van, and build your own? That's what I'm doing. I built a bed size for me, with a memory foam mattress, and it's set up like an Old Navy coffin Locker. That means the top opens and inside the bed frame is storage for clothing or whatever else you might want to put in...

    what a great idea

So I'm just starting out, but I can tell you about three Walmarts in Virginia the happily allow you to sleep there. In Virginia Beach Virginia near Lynnhaven Mall there is a Walmart where several people seem to actually live in the parking lot, and the cops don't care. In Norfolk Virginia...

    New Freedom Seeker

LOL; you have me beat accidental Overlander. I just said screw it and quit. Maybe this is my midlife crisis? I don't know but I've never felt as happy as I had the last 3 weeks. Just a couple more things to do to get the van ready for full-time and I'm gone

I haven't decided which way to go yet, but I'm leaning towards either a propane or a butane stove single burner. I want easy to cook stuff that I can do in one pot. I plan to do a lot of fishing. I am thinking about building a collapsible solar oven. Has anyone tried cooking with one of those?

    Essential Attire

One of the reasons I'm adopting this lifestyle, is to avoid extremely cold temperatures. I want to chase 70 degrees so to speak. I have a lot of shorts, though I do have some pants and a couple of heavy jackets just in case. One thing I will not have are any suits. Escaping that lifestyle is one...

Tools Onboard - Question for full-timers

For me, the downside to being in such a small van is that I can't organize my tools. I have one Foot Locker full of tools mainly hand tools of various types. I also have a code reader multimeter etc etc etc. The hard part is finding what I need when I need it I need a better organization system...

    Salutations fellow freedom seekers

My story is probably similar to many others   I am mid-fifties, recently divorced, with grown children. After a long life of gathering stuff, I've decided that freedom interest me more then Gathering stuff. I am starting small with an Astro van and I want just enough solar power to power a...
