    12v socket

I am adding 12v sockets to my travel trailer for off grid use. The socket that I ordered from Amazon came with two of those tiny led indicator lights. These were not visible in the initial picture. Should I return this socket or do they not draw enough extra juice to worry about? I am planning...

    Portable vs. Fixed panels

Great point jimindenver, I actually got the idea from this post: http://www.cheaprvliving.com/electrical/installing-flexible-solar-panels-from-the-side-of-the-van/ I am looking at something similar...

    Portable vs. Fixed panels

I am glad you posted this retailer. Their price on flexible panels is cheap. And with them being so much lower in weight, the shipping is reasonable also. Does anyone see any reason not to buy these panels for portable deployment? https://www.solarblvd.com/product_info.php?products_id=3083

    Hightec Solar Inc.

These panels are about $1 per watt and ship from my home state here in Indiana. Does anyone have an opinion on these?  http://m.ebay.com/itm/272008199222?_mwBanner=1&ul_ref=http%253A%252F%252Fr.ebay.com%252F1twDaD%253Fsrcrot%253D711-127632-2357-0%2526rvr_id%253D1041194085183

    RedPort Halo Wifi Extender

Does anyone have any experience with the RedPort Halo Wifi Extender? Or is there another that you would highly suggest instead? The antenna and optimizer is about $340.00. I am sure there are much cheaper alternatives.

    EU2000i to charge batteries?

So the "charge wizard" would not be considered some sort of automatic or smart charger? And the high end of 14.4 volts would not be prohibitive? Brian

    EU2000i to charge batteries?

I do plan to add about 300 watts of solar in the near future, but one step at a time for now and I already have the batteries and generator. I would like to go out on some weekend trips and kind of "test out" the off grid lifestyle. Do you have a specific charger that you would suggest that...

    EU2000i to charge batteries?

So I have two of the Sam's Club Duracell GC2 batteries along with a Champion 3100/2800 inverter generator. Would the Powermax charger that you are referring to be the correct choice for me as well to most efficiently top off the battery banks? Maybe something like this...

    The "new" T-Mobile

I realize that this topic has been discussed to death on here. However, I did see a television commercial this past week from T-Mobile. It opened with a sparsely populated coverage map and said "You think you know T-Mobile...well think again" and the map was replaced with one shaded almost...

    Free 1gb data on Verizon

Called Verizon today. I told them that I heard it was possible to get a free 1gb of data free for 12 months. They said "sure, all you had to do was ask". That was all it took. Thanks for the tip!

    GC12 vs. GC2

And you may remember from my previous post that I am looking at the Renogy 300w premium system. I know the fridge and heater use little power, but between those and odds and ends like lights and such, something is almost always running. How does your battery ever actually get to top off in a...

    GC12 vs. GC2

But at 155 AH's wouldn't I only have about 30% of that to use on an average daily basis, or about 47 AH's?

    GC12 vs. GC2

    When shopping for two 6v GC2 batteries at Sam's Club today, I ran across a GC12. When comparing the numbers for either 1 GC12 vs. 2 GC2's I had a difficult time seeing the advantage of the GC12: (2) GC2's: 230AH's, 122 lbs, and $200.00 (1) GC12: 155AH's, 90 lbs, and also $200.00 Given AH's...

    Solar/Battery Decsion.

When you say "charging it off of your batteries" are you referring to the tow vehicle battery?
  15. B

    Solar/Battery Decsion.

So using this setup, I would optimally only have about 70 AH available per day?

    Solar/Battery Decsion.

I think I have decided that I have enough roof space on my camper for three solar panels. I think I have finalized a decision on the Renogy 300w premium package to power my two GC2 batteries. Everything I have read says that you cannot have too much solar and you want to make sure and be able to...

    Living this lifestyle with kids.

I just finished watching the first video of this years RTR. I noticed a kid or two in the video. We had talked about hitting the road once the kids were older and out, but that got me to thinking why wait. Is it at all common or acceptable in the "van dwellers" community to be on the road with...

    Flexible Panels

It looks like Renogy has discontinued their flexible panels. Are flexible panels something to avoid, even from other companies? Or have most had good luck with them?
