can I leave the key in?

    It's a 2004, it doesn't seem to have a time out.

can I leave the key in?

Well ... so far what I've come up with is that the key has to be On (not accessory) for the windows to work. When the key is On, the dash lights also come on, I'm pretty sure that's too much juice (and also annoying, as I'm trying to sleep). I doubt there's a way to stop that from happening...

can I leave the key in?

I'm going to be camping in my Matrix.  Assuming I'm not running anything I know about - lights, fan, radio, ac etc. - can I leave the key in the ignition in the Accessory or On position overnight without running the risk of draining the battery?   It would be hugely helpful to be able to roll up...

    It's perfect. Sigh.

http://jalopnik.com/hondas-n-truck-n-camp-concept-returns-joy-to-the-people-1684019014 Why oh why can't they return joy to the people HERE! This is my idea of the perfect dwelling / vehicle for one.

    Honda Fit question

Just have to put in a pitch for my Toyota Matrix. The Maxtrix (at least Marge, who is 10 years old) is a corolla with a big squarish hatchback. It's the same basic shape as the Fit but a bit bigger, and it almost seems like it was designed for living convenience - the passenger seat folds up...

    Make it ‘Fit’ (Honda Fit)

I'm twice your age but I totally get it. I really do. I have a husband and a house and four cats and while I'm not abandoning any of that, I LOVE the freedom of the open road. It's not necessarily either-or. If I may make a personal suggestion, try taking a retreat weekend, a little me-time...

    Car carried rooftop tent

If you stored your stuff in 6 sturdy 15" cubes, you could build doggy a staircase with them instead of having a ladder. Perhaps not the most practical idea I've ever had. :) Slightly more serious, my neighbor's chickens have a ramp up into their coop. It's a long board about a foot wide with...

the change from materialistic to utilitarian/minimalist. ..

I have a friend who drastically downsized and said that two things helped her. 1. She took pictures of the sentimental stuff before giving it away. She actually made an album with captions, a way of being physically reassured of her memories without actually carrying the stuff around. It's...

    Swooning with van lust.

Oh thank you to everyone! Now I have virtual vans to swoon over too. And nothing looks quite as daunting as it did, even the high top conversion. And High Desert Ranger, a special thanks to you because I've been struggling to "google" the hardware I'm looking for and I keep ending up with baby...

    1988 Dodge Caravan

I have a Matrix. When I car camp, I lie the back seats of my car down flat. I slide the driver's seat all the way forward and put the seatback forward, and attach my pillow to the back of the seat. Then I put my cooler behind the seat and put a pad on it, so I'm basically sitting on my cooler...

    Swooning with van lust.

I am getting back to the idea of road living, and every time I see a Sprinter conversion or even an old vw microbus I feel my pulse rise. Ooooh, that, That!! What I have in mind for this phase of life is to look around the country with the idea of perhaps moving there someday. To go...
