    Things learned from installing bat/inverter..

Blue - I read what you wrote twice....and it sounds like you've got a good grip on what you are doing---but my eyes are now glazed over :( When I get to the point that I will need to install a deep cycle battery and inverter, and ultimately solar power (this will have to wait until I get a van...

greetings from the weird state(portland, oregon)

Dronny - good luck to you whatever you end up deciding to do financially. Patience is something we learn, not something we are born with (I could be wrong about that, lol)

Bob, Thank you for the research and information - much appreciated! (I"ll get the hang of this yet). Phoenix it is (for now), with traveling/exploring plans to be updated as the year progresses/warms. I'll be making the journey from the starting area of Janesville WI, and since I have a goal...

    Introduction Time.....

You are absolutely right OffRoad! I am planning on heading to warmer weather to live in my car, while working at temp companies and saving (most) of the money. That is just the first step in my plan...there is a method to my madness :)

    Truck Stops

It's a bit of a surprise to me to see how Sox and I changed over the years. We used to leave for some adventures barely prepared and it all turned out fine. Now in our sixties, we feel much better to know as much as possible before we step out the door....what's up with that! Nicole - your OP...

What type of laptop do you recommend

Amen on the silence and a book thing Offroad. I am looking into buying a tablet---I've downloaded books to my laptop via a Kindle app for over a year, but don't want to pull this big thing out just to read a book, or connect to the internet for a bit.

How Would You Describe the Mechanic You See in the Mirror?

HAHHAHA - hey, we all have our talents...and at least she was able to put gas in the car. Maybe she reckoned that she had a big strong person in yourself to do all of the other stuff that needed doing :::wink:: Seriously, I grew up with brothers, and they always had a car in varying stages of...

    Introduction Time.....

Darth and AKBob---you guys almost have me in tears here - thank you VERY much for the suggestions to get through this hiccup to my traveling/exploring days. I have looked at moving to NM - either Albuquerque or Sante Fe, just to get to warmer temps for the next few months. Anything beats -17...

How Would You Describe the Mechanic You See in the Mirror?

The mechanic I see in the mirror: A woman that is chuckling as she writes this :) I can change a tire, change the oil in my car....that's about it. I do know when something is wrong - a motor mount going bad, shocks shot, brake pads need changing....but I don't fix those things myself. I can...

    Yeti cooler questions

Welcome whitetrash! (ok, felt weird typing out your name, lol) I will be in a car soon also, so the question about the fridge vs a cooler had my interest. A lot of great investigating by some members on this forum about the Yeti....I think I would go with an Igloo or Coleman, until you decide...
