I wish there was a way to try out different mattresses before buying. I am looking at buying a tri-fold mattress. My base is a plywood platform with another plywood section that pulls out. The plywood will have a few holes in it for air circulation. Humidity is a factor in New England.

Another option I was thinking of was to have a solid plywood top & then under that have a pull out plywood section which could slide on L brackets along the side. Could have fold up legs under that when stored. Has anybody tried something like that?

The bike will go outside at night. On top of the vehicle is not an option as I am too short. I don't want to spend the $$ on installing a hitch & buying a rack. My concern is making that large of a expanding slat bed & if it will hold the weight of 2 people.

Well if they had to tow the dealership was going to pay for that one, but yes I should upgrade.....I only have AAA basic.

Used. 2013 with 77K miles. I am sure they will get it all fixed. Just frustrating to happen in the first 24 hours. Good thing I was able to drive it back to Cape....otherwise that would have been an expensive tow for the dealership to pay for.

Well, I got mine on Friday after work & it was back at the dealership within 24 hours!  I got stuck at IKEA when the interlock system seized up & I couldn't get it out of park.  2 AAA guys later, they were able to unjam it so I could at least drive it back to the Cape.  But at dealership to get...

Hi, I am new to this site too. I live on the Cape & just bought a 2013 Transit Connect. very excited about this conversion project. I am downsizing from a Class B. I never used the water in it as I am usually at campgrounds. Love to travel all over New England.

I have put the bike in & it fits across behind the front seats so I know space-wise it fits. What I am wondering about is doing a slat type pull out bed with those big of dimensions & if the stationary part is across the back & I have a 3' pull out section.
