Gorgeous Day to be a Camp Host!!

Thank you, everyone! As with any job, there are not-so-great moments, but it's surprising how knowing that a job is temporary, and being in a beautiful place with very few bills, and a bit of income, can make even the "bad days" pretty darn good! Almost There, you're almost there!

Gorgeous Day to be a Camp Host!!

Where you're at sounds ideal! I keep reminding myself to fully appreciate where I am right now, instead of always "looking forward" to the next place, but near a lake or ocean is pretty much my favorite kind of surroundings.

Gorgeous Day to be a Camp Host!!

Oh man, keep reminding me about the Unemployment option; it keeps slipping my mind. Currently, I have plans to be part of Amazon's Texas Camperforce, if I can get there. My orientation webinar is next Thursday. Between the two jobs, I hope to get enough saved to buy a smaller rig and have...

Not one of the cool kids...

I'm going to do that right now. I used eucalyptus oil on cotton balls under the sink, as everyone says that bears are attracted to peppermint. However, I'm far less worried about bears than I am about mice, so peppermint oil it shall be!!! Thanks, Smart.

Gorgeous Day to be a Camp Host!!

The weather is perfect today, sunny and about 72 degrees. There is a beautiful breeze blowing through the tops of the pines, and even the bugs seem to be occupied doing something besides swarming in people's faces. Song birds are plentiful, squirrels are behaving themselves, and the sound of...

Think any of those ideas would work on mice?! :D

Not one of the cool kids...

Having been told (by my boss) that I would not be able to drive up this Saturday to attend my granddaughters' 2nd birthday party, I decided to visit on Tuesday/Wednesday, which are my regular days off. I was worried about leaving the motor home overnight, fearing I would return to a home...

Not one of the cool kids...

You've nearly convinced me to take on the extra traveling companion.  I checked the mouse bait drawer today, and either the bait has caused these b!#$*#s to grow, or I have something bigger visiting now, as the size of the droppings in the drawer have tripled! Even worse(?!) is that I finally...

HAhahha, that's hysterical!  I was thinking more of leather-clad cats on Harleys when I said gang, but I like Clowder of Cats a lot! Thanks for the chuckle, Guy!

    Anxiety-Fear-Depression and the Civilized Mind

I am a (happily) single, 49 year old woman, traveling with just her fabulous dog, Bella, and tomorrow will be 7 weeks since I "hit the road". Yes, of course there has been some anxiety/fear about heading into the unknown, and other matters, but I am SO much happier, day-to-day than I was...

    College?

While I LOVE education, because it's so good for your brain, I recently arrived at the same conclusion as many others here. I was going deeper and deeper into debt through student loans trying to obtain a degree and decided to stop, and live my life instead. Of course I'm quite a bit older...

Not one of the cool kids...

Saturday, a terrified mother ran up to me, begging for Benadryl. Her 12 year old son had been stung by a bee (they were unaware of this allergy, so didn't have an epi-pen), and his reaction was immediate: severe swelling of his face, neck, torso, and arms, profuse sweating, fever, and what...

Not one of the cool kids...

Thanks!  Tomorrow is my day off, and I'll be driving the hour into town for one of those. Any ideas about how to repel carpenter bees? We have 4 wooden bathroom structures, and those gigantic bees are very territorial, patrolling and chasing anything that comes near the structure. There were...

Not one of the cool kids...

I've been tempted to acquire a couple of mousers, but unless they were old, steady, and knew how to ignore my crazy dog, I wouldn't be able to have them inside, and then there's the problem of what to do with them when I leave at the end of summer, as I'm not equipped to take on additional...

Not one of the cool kids...

I'll definitely try that, thank you, Baloo! I've been spraying possible entry points with a very strong pine-sol type of cleaner, hoping that would deter them. When I got up this morning, I swear I saw one run out from under my chair, but my eyes frequently play tricks on me like that (that's...

Not one of the cool kids...

Thanks, Bob! I've been thinking about how you might handle things, and longing for a more remote assignment in the future. My nearest boss is more than an hour away, and not available by telephone most of the time, My only recourse if things get out of hand is to call the local LEOs, but...

Not one of the cool kids...

Well, this weekend was a bit more difficult than Memorial Day Weekend. I had 36 people show up after 6pm on Friday, and one part of their group didn't show up until after 10:30pm, at which time they all apparently decided it was time to party. Had a few complaints about that, Saturday morning...

That sounds just about perfect!  I bought those glue traps but haven't had the heart to set them out, snap traps usually get ME while I'm setting them, and the humane traps would only encourage them to come back. Thanks, Writer!

Really?!  I had no idea! Still, it seems that some protection would be better than none. By the time I get down the mountain and anywhere near a vet it's at least 45 minutes, so it would be pushing it.
