    Drinking Stream/Lake Water?

Fair enough. If someone chimes in with a filter or method that's reasonably easy to do then game on, else I may face it like you....we'll see. Thx.

    Drinking Stream/Lake Water?

So you don't worry about the long term effects of stuff the Sawyer won't catch? (Yes, I know something will eventually get us but...)

    Drinking Stream/Lake Water?

As an avid backpacker in my youth I drank a bunch of stream/lake water, generally filtered through a product like this: https://sawyer.com/products/sawyer-mini-filter/ These filters take out most of the bad stuff related to bacteria and protozoa, so I was safe from getting a stomach ache.  But...

Where Did National Forests Go? Green Spaces Disappear From Google Maps

That is good to know, perhaps it is fixed up now.  *shrugs* was weird to see at the time though.

Where Did National Forests Go? Green Spaces Disappear From Google Maps

We shall see. I know figure a lot of folks utilize Google Maps on this forum and figured folks may like a heads up.

Choosing to be Single and on the Road

Haha.  It doesn't exactly satisfy my curiosity on the subject, but your post made me smile.  Rock on. :)

Truly Fulltimers... storing Passport, Birth Cert., etc.

Can it be any courthouse or does it need to be the one your domicile is closest to?

Truly Fulltimers... storing Passport, Birth Cert., etc.

How do you get a birth certificate certified?  Bring it to a notary?  I always see requirements for "Original Birth Certificate," has the certified copy worked?

Choosing to be Single and on the Road

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread, but there's' a lot of people on this thread with experience being single. As you grow older, how important is s_x and lovemaking? Do you crave it just as much as yesteryear or do you more so miss the companionship? The reason I ask if that I suspect...

How's your stealth with an A/C hanging out the back of your van?

Thanks for the data chip.  Usually for historical data I go to weather.com and look at the monthly averages but because the Chisos Basin doesn't really have a nearby town, I can't find historical data.  Might you have a link to historical averages as opposed to recent days? I know there are a...

    Similar Forums?

I agree, seems to be an older crowd here focused more so on living out West on open land as opposed to stealthing in a city.  I could be wrong.

Do you ever need a "vacation" from fulltiming?

Agreed, that's why I put Vacation in quotes in the subject.  I realize there are downsides to fulltiming, just wondering if the majority of you needed a break from it from time to time.  In the end I thrive off change...thus why I am bored out of my mind with my "groundhog day" life these days.

Do you ever need a "vacation" from fulltiming?

That's interesting and a bit concerning to someone who is considering a Prius, haha.  I guess the hot shower is just a visit to Planet Fitness away, but the king size bed is a little more costly (hotel room). :o

Do you ever need a "vacation" from fulltiming?

As a newbie still doing the daily grind I wonder if folks fulltiming are truly doing it 24/7? Maybe you have a bit of land you return to from time to time to hang out while still in your vehicle.... maybe you have a small cottage to visit.... maybe you go back to your kids or parents for...

    Hair cuts?

I've been shaving my head and face for year as I went bald. The past year I moved to a safety razor and the savings have been immense over cartridges.

How Much Money To Start Off?

And 1.4mil ~is~ a lot of money, but for those of us who choose to live a frugal lifestyle while socking away decent salaries, it is possible to retire early and live purely off passive income (it doesn't get any more passive or easy to make an "income" than from capital gains and dividends...

How Much Money To Start Off?

IGBT is being conservative (smart man/women!) in their withdrawal strategy.  In the early retirement community 4% is the often referenced "safe withdrawal rate."  Historically the market has returned 7% in a well diversified portfolio that minimizes fees and expense ratios.  With 3% historical...

How to find your sticks & bricks friends on FB as your travel

I have a few hundred friends on Facebook and as I prepare to transition from stationary life working the 9-5 to nomadic, I always wondered of a way to find my friends on Facebook as I travel the country.  It'd be great to see folks I haven't seen in years as I travel.... perhaps grab a drink...
