    Land for all

Is that Nevada property a big alkali flat? Sounds....cheap. Per acre that is :) Lot of discussions on here about your same idea. Don't know if you can make it work or not but what the heck... put me down for a possible labor hand. I might want a place to set up from time to time. Depending...

    Hitch Hotel-expandable wheelless trailer

I thought the idea was novel but for the price and very possible instability and weight on the very rear...ah. It is basically hauling a heavy bed around and for that my money probably plus a little would go to an earlier model ext. cab pickup and a topper. A slideout on the bed floor could...

Is anyone traveling through central California?

If I could I would be in central CA. right now instead of TX. I'm like Danny though, Dr. appt on the 3rd of Aug. and see if anything else needed. This is about like last summer and fall around Yosemite. Waiting to see what the fires are going to do. Made it out in early September but Yosemite...

    Self tapping screws?WTF

As the others have said, you will most likely have to pre drill a pilot hole. It also takes quality bits to get through that tough metal and more so if it is double thickness.  Cheap bits can cause a lot of frustration.

Question for experienced bear country people

I have put all food, and items with fragrances in the bear boxes at Yosemite. That gets old before long even though I understand the reason for it. The $5K fine will have you doing it though. That's one of the reasons I won't go back to Yosemite to camp. A NFS or BLM campground next door...

    Tailgater Table

Looks like a good idea, Brian.  Two of those would make a quick set up for a scaffold to do some work on the top of a non high top van.

    RIP Rob"Gunny"Jungman

That's sad to hear. From his comments about his heart condition it didn't sound good for him. It didn't work out for us to meet up for a trip to Utah so we never met at all. RIP Gunny.

    Van Tramp adventures 2018

Me too, hdr.  When I finally made the trip out there I liked it so much that after I made the rounds of Yosemite and Sequoia NP's I came back for a couple more days.  Good read Van Tramp.

    Hitching made easy or waste?

If you can get it backed and lined up pretty close, a come along hooked to your hitch or bumper would work to nudge it forward. Way less money than one of those type hitches. I have used a come along to winch cars up on a trailer. Not something I ever want to do again though. lol

    BobBski 2017..

I bet. :) I spent a long summer in that area in 2012 hauling crude. Didn't get around to fishing though.

    BobBski 2017..

Seems like you just left Texas headed west and up to Alaska. Looks like as good a place as any to spend a little time.

Heating when you can't afford a Mr. Buddy

I was wondering about that. We used to keep water in an insulated plastic water can and inside of a tent.

Heating when you can't afford a Mr. Buddy

I had one of those Coleman catalytic heaters I used in a blind years ago. Not enough heat and fuel was getting expensive. I switched to a large coffee can that I placed a roll of toilet paper in and filled with alcohol. It put out more heat at a lot less cost. I lived over it. At 20 degrees...
