FarOutVan: Ford Transit 2016 DIY campervan conversion for MTB & splitboarding

A campervan conversion for Mountain-Biking deserve proper mountain-bike rack! We wanted the bikes to be stored inside the van & to be easily loaded/unloaded. The tray extend 48" and locks fully in or out position. http://faroutride.com/slide-out-bike-rack/ Cheers!

I think you got the address wrong! We are faroutRIDE, not faroutSIDE ;) I just checked and the website is up and running: http://faroutride.com/

FarOutVan: Ford Transit 2016 DIY campervan conversion for MTB & splitboarding

Thanks for the compliment about the website! For now the van interior is incomplete, so we have to climb on "kitchen" countertop. We will eventually incorporate a single stair, somehow; probably a drawer that will act as a stair. We don't mind at all "climbing" on the bed, but others might not...

FarOutVan: Ford Transit 2016 DIY campervan conversion for MTB & splitboarding

Nice, is it a dual wheels? If i had to start over, i would probably aim for 38" and gain some head space above the bed. But I aint gonna start over, never again (too much work), so 40" it will be. It's still very comfy with the High-Roof Transit :) Do you have some pics?? Happy conversion!

We wanted a permanent raised bed above the "garage" (over the mountain bikes and other equipment); no need to fold/unfold the bed at night & it creates a lot of storage room. Here is the installation writeup: http://faroutride.com/platform-bed-installation/ Cheers!

We don't like drilling holes in our van, so we're using Plusnut blind fasteners in existing holes. We love them! They are super strong and quite easy to install. http://faroutride.com/plusnut/

And we are done with the Thinsulate installation! This was probably one of the easiest part of the conversion so far. :) Easy Breezy! http://faroutride.com/thinsulate-installation/ Cheers!

FarOutVan: Ford Transit 2016 DIY campervan conversion for MTB & splitboarding

Just a quick update on the Fiamma Rain Guard. We ordered 4 meters of the "L" model (9cm width) via Ebay. We received it in just a few days. It took less than an hour to install. The seal really snap into the awning, feel very secure and has a "OEM" look. We got heavy rain and it did what it's...

FarOutVan: Ford Transit 2016 DIY campervan conversion for MTB & splitboarding

The Webasto AirTop 2000 STC was quite a challenge for us to install. It took us almost 20-30 hours to perform the job, while others reported having done it in about 4-6 hours. Oh well. We're done with the install and are very satisfied with the result. We're having one of the warmest...

The conversion is moving on! We took advantage (meh) of those nice summer days to install our floor... Here is how we did it: http://faroutride.com/floor-installation/

FarOutVan: Ford Transit 2016 DIY campervan conversion for MTB & splitboarding

That's one way to put it ;) It's not the type of trip we want to do when we are 65 years old... gotta do it now! We did install the solar panels, but we're waiting after the cabinet is built to perform the rest of the installation (charge controller, battery, etc). For now we use the van...

FarOutVan: Ford Transit 2016 DIY campervan conversion for MTB & splitboarding

Our complete (but growing) "wishlist" map is here. Notably for mountain biking: Sedona, Moab, Downieville, Park City, Bend, British-Columbia, Yukon... Skiing: SLC, Jackson, Oregon, British-Columbia, Alaska, Yukon... We're not sure where exactly where we are relocating; this part of our life is...

FarOutVan: Ford Transit 2016 DIY campervan conversion for MTB & splitboarding

We installed a Fiamma F45S awning, which is installed on the side of the van just above the door (i believe only the High-Roof has some room to do this). It looks like a solid product and the color match the Magnetic Grey of the Transit :) Here is the story...

FarOutVan: Ford Transit 2016 DIY campervan conversion for MTB & splitboarding

We bought 2 DiscountVanTruck.com swivel seat plates with the intention on installing them on both driver & passenger side. To install on the driver side, you have to perform the handbrake mod as described here. A few notes: 1- With the dual AGM batteries, the big bolt in the center of the...

FarOutVan: Ford Transit 2016 DIY campervan conversion for MTB & splitboarding

The taps will stay in the house; BUT i'm sure a 2.5 gallons keg & tap would fit in the van! The only issue is to keep it cold without using all the refrigerator space  :dodgy: It would not be too difficult to build a insulated box with a Danfoss compressor, but those compressor are not cheap  :s

FarOutVan: Ford Transit 2016 DIY campervan conversion for MTB & splitboarding

Hi! So we finally took the plunge and bought (and received) our Ford Transit (148" wheel base, high-roof, extended-length). This is a pretty big deal for us, as the van also come with this promise for 2017: to leave our jobs, sell the house and travel the america for at least a year (or more if...
