    Installed MaxxFan Deluxe this morning

Something to consider on vent covers and full airflow. This video from Fantastic vent cover shows airflow test of a few different covers. Don't know if it truly makes much difference but . . .

    Installed MaxxFan Deluxe this morning

I forgot to show the inside trim piece. It looks close to the same one Fantastic Vent uses. I will install it later. After the insulation pole about how it may hold the summer heat in longer not sure what I will do as I camp in the Florida heat some. I am thinking that the roof may get the...

    Installed MaxxFan Deluxe this morning

Bdog1, I ordered the fan from PPl in Texas but it got shipped from somewhere on the East coast I think. Almost felt like a traitor not getting the Fantastic fan. And this one only has 2 or 3 year warranty. I really like it so far because the built in rain cover and you can run the fan with...

    Installed MaxxFan Deluxe this morning

Hey everyone, Installed my MaxxFan this morning. I probably should have used a jig saw but I didn't have the right blades so I used my air cut off tool. Now I am waiting for the sealant to cure enough I can wash the roof before the metal flakes start rusting on the roof. I used butyl tape...

    Bendable, lightweight solar panels

Not saying these panels from Go Power are good or bad. They say install their flexible with Sikaflex 221 Adhesive Sealant no screws needed. Funny video of jumping on the panels. A SEEKER

SternWake and other expert advice needed on electrical hookup

When using hydrometer to test specific gravity can that be done without resting a flooded battery for a number of hours and still get a fairly close reading or is a long at rest period needed?

SternWake and other expert advice needed on electrical hookup

About 2 to 3x what the original OEM/ Stock charging circuit could pass. Is this only because the cable is large enough to pass the higher current? I am still learning. its hard to believe I once knew a lot of electronics. . . had a store and serviced TV,VCR, microwave ovens and some audio...

SternWake and other expert advice needed on electrical hookup

I am only slightly confused on how you are doing this. Don't you have 2 house batteries and a separate starter battery? I do think those switches are a good way to do it though.

SternWake and other expert advice needed on electrical hookup

Guess I would be just as well off with a hammer crimp for temporary although in tight places may not be easy. on another note Sternwake. I really like the idea of how you have your batteries separated with the manual switches. I want to be able to use one battery and charging the other...

SternWake and other expert advice needed on electrical hookup

I noticed that SternWake had hydraulic crimping tool. Are either of these worth buying Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Hydraulic-Battery-Terminal-Crimper-Crimping/dp/B00CUQ042Q and harbor freight http://www.harborfreight.com/hydraulic-wire-crimping-tool-66150.html My van has a #4 AWG wire coming...

advice needed on installing solar panel connector at same time I install vent fan.

Thanks for info SternWake. I will just wait until I install panel and keep the run as short as possible and use grommets. I was thinking I might be able to have 1 less hole in the van. It doesn't really matter once I start chopping on the van who knows where it will stop! A SEEKER

janncoo, I also am thinking of hitch cargo rack for my Chevy van to carry a 70 pound generator. My concern is how low the trailer hitches are on the van and if the rack will drag. Watching your thread for advice. A SEEKER

    insulation advice again please (sorry)

I know this has been covered over and over. I am thinking of insulating with the GAF from Home Depot this http://www.homedepot.com/p/GAF-0-75-in-x-4-ft-x-8-ft-EnergyGuard-PolyIsocyanurate-Sheathing-1S02/204322724 Would that be a good choice? Should I put a thin layer of commercial bubble wrap...

    Bed platform - plywood thickness?

Bob, Thank You so much for posting the cheap bed build link. I may just do something like that for a quick build with out trying to overthink and stress about how to build. Then I can get ready to hit the road quicker and after being in the van for awhile I will know more what to change...

    Milk Crates for bed

Hey slow2day, I was thinking the slats should way a lot less than plywood. If I can find a way to set the IKEA slats on to a couple 2x4's secured to the frame across the back of the van. I hope I can get to a store that sales them so I can see them in person. Thanks for the info. A SEEKER
