Was there something about full-time vandwelling that was different than you expected?

I second what towhee has said. Keep the stories coming. What might seem inconsequential or minor to some is a treasure trove of information for those of us who are attempting this lifestyle. Cheers all.

Glad I found this thread. I never knew about the quality issue with RVs.

    My First Week

I love reading about young adults who are doing what I always wanted to do. I guess for me it's the old adage 'better late than never'.

    Christmas Paraphanalia

Madpeep, love the idea of a picture tree. Christmas spirit with no space used. Queen and Vangrrl57, those are very treasured items. Like you, there are items that just can't be gotten rid of. When my husband was in the Armed Forces I wrote him a letter a day. He kept all of them. We are...

    Christmas Paraphanalia

I'll definitely be returning the stuff the kids made for me back to them. Now that they have children of their own I'm sure they'd like it. The one I will keep is a toilet paper tissue angel that is barely holding on to itself. Every year I've packed it oh so carefully. It's my tree topper...

    Christmas Paraphanalia

Funny thing is that I'm not a knick-knack type of person at all. Hate them actually. My only vice is my Christmas stuff. I think I will have an ebay sale with most of the ornaments since they are quite valuable.

Carseats and Child Safety and Rv's Van Conversions

Wow growfreedom22, thanks for your post. I hadn't thought about the safety aspect in an RV. Your post really has me narrowing down our own options. Cheers.

    Christmas Paraphanalia

Thank you for answering. Christmas 'stuff' is the most difficult to part with. I'll definitely use suggestions that were offered. Would it be too odd to keep a couple of ornaments to hang from the ceiling as I travel? Or is this just too weird?

    Christmas Paraphanalia

This might seem like an odd post to most of you, for that I do apologize. I've been purging my belongings. What I haven't gone near yet is all my Christmas stuff. And after almost 40 years there is a lot. Every year for 30 years my husband has bought me Christmas ornaments. How did you all...

Wanting to take the Plunge with a child.

gcal, I'm actually 53. It was suggested when our daughter was early teens to move her to a group home. My husband and I discussed the options. Luckily for us we chose to keep her home with us. She adds so much to our lives. When we are gone, we have in place that her brother becomes her...

Thanks ArtW. That is exactly what I meant. My apologies for not being clearer.

Wanting to take the Plunge with a child.

Spaceman Spiff, we would use the truck to haul the camper and pull the trailer. Here in Canada there is always all kinds of contraptions rolling on the road. Truck with trailer pulling a boat; truck with camper pulling a car; etc. I'm not sure if in the States there is limitations to what you...

Getting used to living in a smaller space

You have a brilliant idea. I think I will adopt this idea also. Knowing the limited amount of space that we will have, it would be great to purge down to the necessities and live with it for now.

    C-Pap Machine and power usage

Thank you SternWake. I've found the old threads regarding the C-Paps.

    C-Pap Machine and power usage

I should mention that the C-Pap is 12 Volts and 5A Watts with a usage of approximately 7 hours per day. I tried using the calculator I found but it reads 'Greek' to me as I'm not knowledgeable on solar panels. This is something I will have to remedy.

    C-Pap Machine and power usage

I didn't know where to post this topic. Hope here is okay. My husband has to use a C-Pap machine at night. To be ready to start our adventure next spring we have to take this into account as a priority. With solar, would he get enough stored energy to run a C-Pap? Or will we have to use shore...

Wanting to take the Plunge with a child.

My daughter has obsessive compulsive disorder and anxiety disorder. She does not do well with people she doesn't know or being away from us. What we have been thinking of is getting my daughter a small truck camper and pulling a trailer for my husband, myself, and son. This way we are thinking...
