Thinking about buying 2002 chevy conversion van w 220,000 miles. What would you do?

It could be an acceptable risk. Government owned vehicles have a stringent maintenance completed on them. I would say that it depends on your repair funds. If something does happen, it gets repaired, you enjoy a motel room and restaurant food for a few days.

    Cool Weather and Condensation

Condensation is always worse with propane heat. Not a lot that can be done about it unless you have enough  solar for electric heat. I did see one video where he changed over to wood heater and the condensation disappeared. For most of us,  we'll just have to deal with it.

    just bought a generator, hookup/ grounding ?

I'm a retired engineer. It would be best if you would ground it to the frame. That's the point that all your electrical is grounded to as well. Additionally  if it's left floating,  it's possible to cause you some problems for your vehicle if your trailer is connected to the vehicle.

    Batteries in a small van

Depending on your budget for batteries, it seems to follow that you get what you pay for. A lifeline 200 amp/ hr the last I checked runs about 700. You have to figure in shipping. Lifeline is made in the USA and hand assembled, but will last  10 years.

How much solar do I need?

As an retired engineer I would like to add that you actually look and see how many watts each of your items are rated. This will be your watts/ hour you may need.  Like mentioned in above post your batteries should not be discharged below the 50% level.  If you have 100 amp/ hour batteries...
